Our nation’s ‘blindness’

Posted

To the Editor:

A couple of weeks ago we observed the tragic anniversary of the legalization of abortion (Roe v. Wade) in our nation. Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta once said, “If abortion is wrong, nothing is wrong!” With that said, millions of unborn babies have been slaughtered in their mother’s womb, pulled apart and thrown away like trash. We continue, as a culture, to fight for the protection of animal life, but protect not the babies. Is our nation blind or just plain sick?

Once we decided to adopt “choice” over life, look how much darkness has enveloped the world, our nation, our state, our communities and yes – our home, because death was chosen over life and the devil over God!

Why is our nation so blind? Even a toddler or a small child, when shown a picture of a tiny fetus, would understand what the picture shows – a baby! It’s somewhat blind, tragic and plainly ironic, really, that our elected officials and our government cannot!

Why does it seem like there is a “dark cloud” hovering over our land? It’s plain and clear, we run into trouble in life when we do what we want, when we want, how we want and why we want, instead of what God wants! That is exactly what is happening to our country today. Our country is learning the hard way – and is still learning it. When we don’t trust God, we run into serious trouble and failure as well.

Let us pray, that men and women of every age and people of every part of our country, will wake up and become fully aware of what’s really going on. Otherwise, “We the People” of this once great nation are on a slippery slope to “damnation!”

Mr. Walsh is blaming the problems in the world, our nation, our state, our communities, and our homes on legal terminations of pregnancy.

Could this dark cloud be the result of our leaders sending our children to fight and die in wars built on lies and deceit? What about corporations poisoning the land on which we live and grow our food, the water we drink, and the air we breathe? Maybe the "dark cloud" hovers over our land because we don't do enough to fix problems with poverty in this country and around the world.

Nah, it HAS to be abortion. Fox News said so.

I believe Mr. Walsh makes reference to a culture of death that has infected our country. Could war be part of that? Sure. But we've had wars in this country since the 1670's. However, look around. Our environment is cleaner than it has been in 75 years. Stripers are routinely being caught in the Providence River, you can eat off most highways not located in RI, and our water remains the cleanest in the world. As for poverty, we declared war on it fifty years ago. Untold trillions have been spent, all to no avail. It's time to acknowledge defeat and move on. Mr. Walsh has rightly identified a cultural evil, a national abortion policy that makes citizens in Europe, Asia, and South America look upon us as barbarians. If we routinely dismember the most vulnerable among us, how can we possibly claim the moral high ground on war, the environment, and poverty?

I'm pretty sure that abortion rates are dropping to the lowest rates since R V W. If your going to force the girl to have the unloved baby, you raise the child. Men really should let the women lead this fight. Its men after all that are 50% of the cause and none of the physical consequences. And keep your false god out of our courts and politics. Fools.

How about we allow the child to be born and not dismembered. There are presently hundreds of thousand of couples eager to adopt that child; Black, White, Disabled, whatever. "...false gods" are irrelevant here. It does not relegate oen to "fool" status to be against the dismemberment of a child..
