“Out with the Old, In with the New!”

The Artists’ Exchange and Pilgrim Senior Center members, also known as the “Theatre Stars,” performed their original short play for a packed house last Friday. Written by the Theatre Stars themselves, the play revolves around a 1926 New Years’ Eve fundraiser for a luxury hotel called “The Decline,” with the wonderfully unsavory characters that frequent the hotel’s speakeasy. While the speakeasy’s regulars encouraged donations to save The Decline, a vocal and determined member of the temperance movement begged the audience – who played along with enthusiasm – to save their money and their families. The weekly class held at the Pilgrim Senior Center emphasizes improvisation and free expression and is taught by professional actor-director Jessica Bradley of the Artists’ Exchange free of charge.
