PAL hosts 38th annual tourney

Posted

On Saturday, February 1, Warwick PAL Wrestling hosted its 38th annual home wrestling tournament at Bishop Hendricken High School. With close to 400 wrestlers registered, it was one of the program’s largest tournaments ever and it included teams from Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Connecticut. Warwick PAL defended its home turf with 11 tournament champions and 11 second-place finishers.

Warwick PAL is in the midst of another strong year, emphasizing as always the values of hard work, self-discipline, and giving back to the community. The young wrestlers have examples in their coaches, parents and organizations who support PAL, such as the Knights of Columbus.

Wrestlers from PAL have gone on to big things for many years, and current high school teams in Warwick feature nearly two-dozen PAL alumni. Many of them were on hand Saturday to help out at the tournament. (Submitted photos by Kim Swanson)
