Panel discussion Oct. 16 on marijuana in our society

The East Greenwich Drug Program and the Academy Foundation will hold a panel discussion and community forum about the role of marijuana in our society and how we can best protect young people at Swift Gym in East Greenwich, 111 Peirce St., on Wednesday, Oct. 16.

Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m.

The event is open to the public and free.

A 30-minute discussion led by a panel of experts from around the state will be followed by a one-hour Q & A session with questions from the audience. All perspectives are encouraged to participate.

Panelists include: Peter Asen, director of the Providence Mayor’s Substance Abuse Prevention Council and board member of the Ocean State Prevention Alliance; Rebecca McGoldrick, executive director of Protect Families First, a Providence-based nonprofit; Don Anderson, director of the Rhode Island Council of Churches; Michael C. Cerullo, LMHC; Michelle McKenzie, MPH, senior project director at The Miriam Hospital.
