Tomorrow as part of South County Hospital’s recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a panel of five physicians will tell the story of one breast cancer patient from diagnosis through treatment and recovery as part of a comprehensive free presentation for the public.

In addition, the physicians will discuss the latest diagnosis and treatment options for women with breast cancer. The panel, moderated by South County Hospital Breast Health Coordinator Sue Hall, RNP, will include a pathologist, radiologist, surgeon, medical oncologist and a radiation oncologist. This free discussion will be held this Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hampton Inn in South County Commons (off Route 1) in Wakefield.

As part of the presentation, the panelists will hold an extensive question and answer session and address such topics as family history, hormone therapy and its relationship to cancer, the effectiveness of mammographies in diagnosis, and much more.

According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the second most common cancer among American women. One in eight women will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime. This event is free, but please call 788-1647 to reserve a spot.
