Panelists to discuss need for government reforms

Operation Clean Government will dedicate its annual meeting to the 2014 elections, and especially after the vote against a Constitutional Convention, the need to explore new ways to fix how Rhode Island government operates, and new methods for improving the economy a discussion of these issues. 

Political reformer Ken Block and URI Economist Leonard Lardaro will discuss. “RI Government Reforms and the Economy: Where Do We Go From Here?” Providence Journal columnist Ed Fitzpatrick will moderate. The meeting will be held this Wednesday starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Old State House, 150 Benefit St., Providence.

The discussion is open to the public. At the conclusion, there will be a Q&A session with the panelists.

    I'm sure Mr. Block and Lardaro are well-intentioned, but nothing will change in RI as long as citizens continue to willfully feed the pig that is state government. By that I mean a state income tax and state sales tax. As long as the money train continues it's gleeful journey to the state house, RI pols will find ways to spend it.
