The Panera Bread at 5 New London Ave. in Cranston is inviting the public to “Raise the Dough” at its St. Patty’s Preview Party to benefit B’s Mobility Ride on Wednesday, March 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Those who make a $10 donation to the cause will receive unlimited samples of Panera’s green-colored menu items during the event, including brand new Pasta Primavera along with Avocado, Egg White & Spinach Power Sandwich, B Green Power Smoothie and Green Tea. The first 100 customers who make a $10 donation at the event will also receive a Free Mystery Panera Gift Card (limit to one gift card per customer and the customer must be present to receive the card), with values up to and including $200.

All the proceeds from the Preview Party will go towards securing a wheelchair accessible van for the McDermott family of Warwick and, specifically, their eight-year-old son Benjamin who has spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a type of muscular dystrophy. A Cookie Decorating Station for families will also be featured during the evening.

“We invite the Cranston-Warwick community to come enjoy some of our deliciously green menu items in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day while testing your luck of the Irish when picking a gift card all to support B’s Mobility Ride,” said Kimmy Rose, marketing manager at Panera Cranston.

Rose added that the next fundraiser for B’s Mobility Ride will be an Easter Bunny Bonanza at the Panera in Warwick on Wednesday, April 1. To date, several Panera fundraisers in the area and a radio partnership with “Reading With Robin” have raised more than $11,500 towards Benjamin’s van.

In addition to holding fundraisers for various local causes, Panera Bread/Howley Bread Group also enjoys a partnership with Feeding America where all donations collected through its cafes’ ongoing Panera Cares Community Breadbox Program go directly to Feeding America member food banks. This program gives customers the opportunity to donate money at the register to support the local member food banks’ efforts to provide nutritious food to residents in need. This partnership is part of Panera Bread’s ongoing effort to combat the problem of hunger in America. In addition, for years Panera Bread/Howley Bread Group has donated all unsold bread and baked goods each night to local food pantries and other organizations that provide hunger relief through its Day-End Dough-Nation program.

Panera Bread’s overall mission is to help Benjamin and his family reach their goal with a variety of fundraising events. To find out all the events Panera has scheduled to help B’s Mobility Ride, visit and “like” its Facebook page, facebook.com/howleybreadgroup. Panera is also asking others in the local community to help raise funds for B’s Mobility Ride and, for those interested, to reach out to marketing@howleybread.com for participation or ideas.
