Pannese present Cherry Hill Manor with painting

Joseph Spremulli, the elder statesman of the Pannese Society of Rhode Island, knows firsthand just how valuable Cherry Hill Manor is when it comes to patient rehabilitation. “I have been here for not one, but two knee replacements and I received extraordinary care during each visit.”

After the ribbon cutting to officially open CHM’s new rehab room, Spremulli summoned Pasquale Simone, an active Pannese Society member who doubles as Cherry Hill’s Director of Maintenance, to make a special presentation to Ellen Lang, J.S., OTR/L, CHM’s Director of Rehabilitation Services.

Presenting a painting to Lang, spremulli said, “It is the Pannese Society’s hope that this will inspire all those working on their recovery in this room.”

Spremulli paused for several seconds and wiped tears of joy from his face. “This painting was done – as I noted, by hand – by my son Louis (Spremulli) who could not be here today.”

Simone, who was part of the Pannese Society’s recent historic journey to Panni Foggia, Italy, to complete the Sister City signing on half of Mayor Joseph Polisena and the Town of Johnston, said with emotion, “Louis is a very, very talented artist . . . This has a special meaning for me, as well, seeing is how I worked on this (rehabilitation room) project.”

Simone said the work will be prominently displayed for the staff and their patients to see.

CHM, is a sponsor of the Pannese Society, and Loraine DeLorenzo, CHM’s marketing director, also a skilled artist, held several painting programs that helped raise money to send five Johnston High School students to Panni Foggia next year.
