The sold-out audience for the Kingston Trio concert last week at the Park Theatre proved the adage that if you give them what they want, they will come.

Jusuf Ghandi has proven to be a booking pro, using his New York City experiences and contacts, plus a knack for knowing what Rhode Island audiences want, to bring in a string of sell-outs to the Cranston theatre.

The Kingston Trio performance was first-class show business, honoring the veterans, telling the trio’s story, and singing those great old songs, while mixing in a few new ones.

What a way to wrap up the season!

But wait! There’s more.

While many venues take the summer off, the Park has scheduled one major event that is sure to sell out quickly.

Rhode Island’s Rock ‘n’ Blues Fest should be an incredible night of music, with legendary rock and blues bands bringing their best to Cranston on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m.

Ten Years After, Edgar Winter Band, Canned Heat, Rick Derringer, Pat Travers and possibly a couple more artists will perform. Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

There’s something for everyone at the Park this fall, beginning with Buddy Guy on Friday, Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. The legendary blues artist, winner of six Grammy Awards, and a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, sold out the Park last year and is sure to do the same this year.

Take 6, “the quintessential a cappela group” and winner of two Grammy Awards, play the Park on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 8 p.m.

The Brubeck Brothers Quartet, with Dave’s sons, Dan and Chris, perform a tribute to their legendary father, Dave Brubeck, on Friday, Oct. 18 at 8 p.m. If you like jazz, don’t miss this one.

Eva Ayllon, “the Tina Turner of Afro-Peruvian music,” filled a 30,000-seat stadium in Peru, performed at Carnegie Hall and has performed to sold-out audiences around the world for the past 40 years. This is a special treat for music lovers.

Coming in November are country legend Lee Greenwood, folksinger Ani Difranco, blues artist Jonny Lang, and sitar player Anousha Shankar (Ravi’s daughter).

More shows will be added during the fall/winter season, as Cranston’s Park Theatre has found a prominent place in Rhode Island’s entertainment scene.
