REACH: Pilgrim's Caitlin White makes a pass in Monday's match against Cranston West. The Pats won the first game but West responded to win the next three.

The Pilgrim volleyball team pushed hard for a victory on Senior Night but couldn’t quite hold off the first-place Cranston West Falcons.

The Pats rallied from a 21-11 deficit in game one to win 26-24. Betsey Heidel served seven straight points to clinch the victory, with Megan St. Jacques delivered two kills and a block in the run.

In game two, the Pats rallied again and tied the game at 24-24 but West’s Courtney Lambrese delivered on consecutive points to clinch a 26-24 victory for the Falcons. West went on to a 25-12 win in game three before holding off another late charge by Pilgrim to win game four 25-22.

West improved to 15-2 while Pilgrim dropped to 3-13. The match was the final home contest for Pilgrim seniors Heidel, Melissa Conti, Casey McCormick, Lauren Picard and Caitlin White.

The Pats were scheduled to play Westerly on Wednesday and will close out the season on Friday when they visit Scituate at 6:30 p.m.
