The Pilgrim softball team defeated Cranston East 9-6 to close out the season on a five-game winning streak and move to 13-3 in Division II-West, second behind only North Providence (14-1).

The two teams combined for 23 hits and eight errors, six of which belonged to the ’Bolts, and Ellen McDonnell grabbed the victory after 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Madison Balutowski helped Pilgrim defeat East’s Paula Frost, who went all seven innings and recorded one strikeout, with three runs scored.

East fell to 10-5 in D-II with the loss and have gone 3-3 in its last six games overall. The ’Bolts close out their season with Senior Night against Central (2-13) at the Brayton Avenue Softball Complex. Central has allowed a division-high 228 runs on the season, 51 more than the next closest, last-place Classical. The Knights have lost their last three, getting outscored 32-2 over that span.
