After going winless last year and starting this season with losses in its first seven matches, the Pilgrim tennis team picked up a pair of victories last week, the team's first wins since moving up to Division II last season.
On Tuesday, the Pats beat Shea 6-1 to notch their first win. The Pats lost at No. 1 singles, but got victories from Thomas Greenberg at No. 2, Jacob Anderson at No. 3 and Sam Adamo at No. 4. The doubles teams of Dan Gillis and Jack Howland and Michael Holton and Christopher Minett also won, while Andrew Allen and Matt Johnston won by default.
On Friday, the Pats kept up their winning ways by edging Tolman 4-3. Ian Giuttari scored a tough, three-set victory over Jake Sawyer at No. 1 singles to clinch the match. The Pats also got singles victories from Greenberg and Adamo. On the doubles ladder, Matt Morris and Matt Johnson won at No. 3.
