Pats top 'Canes for second straight time

The Pilgrim tennis team defeated Vets 6-1 on Tuesday, winning by the same margin as it did during their match on Sept. 16. The Pats got wins from Maria Guirguis at No. 1 singles, Julietta Ayriyan at No. 3 and Katerina Saarien at No. 4. Pilgrim also got wins in its doubles matches from the teams of Stephanie Sweet and Aleshia Ricardo, Caitlin Barone and Karissa Roun, and Courtney Smith and Alyssa Wilcox.

Vets' lone win came at No. 2 singles, where Lauren Smith grabbed a victory. Pilgrim improved to 8-2 while the 'Canes fell to 6-3. The Pats are now just one-half game behind Division III-South leader Exeter-West Greenwich. Both Pilgrim and Vets are back in action today, as Pilgrim travels to Mt. Hope for a 3:30 p.m. start, while Vets is at Hope at 3:30 p.m.
