Paul L. Bennett, 85, of Warwick, passed away December 31, 2011 at Greenwood Nursing & Rehabilitation. He was the beloved husband of Rita M. (Fisher) Bennett.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Frederick and Fredericka (Miller) Bennett. Mr. Bennett was a foreman colorist with Arkwright Interlaken in Coventry and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a volunteer firefighter with Station 1 of Warwick and a member of the Apponaug Old Timers Association.

He was the loving father of John Bennett of Warwick, Patricia VanEckoute and her husband, James, of Cranston, Susan McElroy and her husband, Kenneth, of Coventry and the late Geraldine Strobel; cherished grandfather of Ryan VanEckoute, Trish Vinacco, Kelly Cybulski, Erin McElroy, Jennifer Driscoll and Kaitlyn Nagel; great-grandfather of six; and caring brother of Dorothy Jorgenson and Barbara Cooke, both of Warwick and the late Frederick, Herbert, and Arthur Bennett, Annie Mailloux and Alfred, Frederick, Ralph and George Hockhousen.

Relatives and friends are invited to visitation Jan. 5 from 9-11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick. Burial will follow in Pawtuxet Memorial Park. For information and guest book visit www.murphyfuneralhomes.org.
