With bright August days and sunny skies shining on Pawtucket, the city's arts and cultural organizations are making final preparations for the 16th Annual Pawtucket Arts Festival in September.

Pawtucket Arts Festival is known throughout the region for showcasing its nationally known resident arts community and for welcoming guest artists and performers to its downtown cultural corridor and Slater Memorial Park, as well as the Festival Pier and Pawtucket Town Landing, from September 5-28. Many of the events are free and designed to welcome both seasoned art lovers as well as family audiences who are discovering their favorite art form in the creative hub that the City of Pawtucket has cultivated for more than a decade.

Longtime PAF favorites returning this year are the Taste of the Valley and the Blackstone River Partysponsored by Foolproof and Bucket Brewing Company. The Taste of the Valley offers samplings from the menus of the region's leading restaurants and culinary artists. The Blackstone River Party is directly after the Taste and welcomes patrons to dance the night away under the PAF tent on the grounds of Slater Mill with Fat City Band and Ruben Moreno & Zydeco Re-evolution. Admission is $10 (children under 12-free admission) and proceeds go to support PAF production costs and service to the arts community.

Slater Park Fall Festival returns with a weekend that celebrates the beauty of the park and art. Over 100 arts and craft vendors are showcased in this juried festival that also features an open air market' of food trucks, performances, music and family activities. Free and open to the public.

The Pawtucket Teachers' Alliance presents the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and Pops in the Park and Bristol County Savings Bank will sponsor the annual Slater Park Fall Festival Fireworks immediately after the concert.

Pawtucket Arts Festival established a PAF Fringe Festival in 2012 led by the City of Central Falls. Central Falls Bright Future Festival in Jenks Park celebrates culture and community in a beautifully designed urban green space showcasing an historic clock tower.

Pawtucket Arts Festival Chairman John Baxter notes the strategic partnerships that sustain the festival as it raises the curtain on cherished returning events and prepares to announce new arts events for the 16th Annual Pawtucket Arts Festival.

"The Board of Directors acknowledges the city, the artists, and the businesses of Pawtucket,” said Baxter. “Together, with support from RI State Council on the Arts and the Pawtucket Arts Review Panel, we strive for the best in the art of partnership.”
