Paye verbally commits to Boston College

Bishop Hendricken junior defensive end Kwity Paye has made a verbal commitment to Boston College to suit up for the Eagles in 2017.

In the wake of the Hawks capturing their sixth straight state title, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound Paye made his decision early this week.

Paye, who is arguably the best defensive player in the state, followed a standout sophomore season with an even better one as a junior this fall. As a dynamic edge-rusher, he finished first on the team in sacks and third in tackles.

As for Boston College, it compiled just a 3-9 record this season, but its defense certainly wasn’t to blame, limiting opponents to 20 points or less in six of those nine losses.

The Eagles have also produced several current NFL defensive players, one being former Hawk Will Blackmon, who plays in the secondary for the Washington Redskins.

Before Paye moves on to one of the top defensive teams in the country, though, he’ll have the opportunity to lead Hendricken to one more state title – a seventh straight – next fall.
