"All Aboard to Wickford,” and some 40 of our great dignitaries all climbed on board the train to Wickford where a brand new 1,100-car parking garage with heated restrooms awaited them, all of which cost the taxpayers some $25 million.
Be sure that that will be the last time that 40 people will board that train to Wickford at any one time and guaranteed that these dignitaries will never do so ever again because they all have fancy cars, planes and helicopters to take them on their trips to nowhere. The purpose of this choo choo, according to Senator Reed, is to reduce air pollution and traffic congestion on Route 4, and he expects us to park our nice, quiet, shiny, new car with all the latest technology and to go back 100 years and get on board to rub elbows with our fellowmen on the noisy, slow, dirty, smelly, antiquated cattle cars of yesteryear. Our great governor, senators and elected leaders all care about us and they listen, too! And since the government has gotten into the transportation business, perhaps the Beacon will do us tax investors the favor of printing the monthly ridership on the choo choo from Wickford, so we can see the return on our investment.
To add insult to injury, Mr Bob Cioe is touted as the “man of the hour” because he purchased the land in Wickford and then became the engine behind the construction of the Wickford Junction on his own land, but we are not told how much the rights or purchase of that land cost the taxpayers, just that he is such a warm and fuzzy guy who had a great idea. Certainly sounds fishy!
And as Nikita Khrushchev said of the American, “you spit in their face and they call it dew,” and so it is with this choo choo train to Wickford.

This is mainly a commuter rail station. We have an 11% unemployment problem. The Boston area's unemployment number is about half of that. We should encourage guys like Bob Cioe to build facilities that help local residents get to new jobs in Boston.

There are not enough trains running from the Airport to Boston to help out workers now. Is the schedule expanding as MBTA cuts lines in MA?
