The Pilgrim Senior Enrichment Center, located at 27 Pilgrim Parkway, offers educational, nutritional and recreational programs to folks 55 years of age and older. The center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. All meals require a reservation; call 468-4076.

The center is closed Monday, Sept. 2, Labor Day. No evening meal Tuesday, Sept. 3

Fall Bazaar Oct. 19 form 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. We are accepting donations for our “White Elephant Table” at the Welcome Desk and tables are available for members for $20 and non-members $25.

URI Pharmacy Outreach: Plan to bring a friend and join us Thursday, Sept. 5, 11 a.m. as the URI College of Pharmacy presents “Age Related Macular Degeneration [AMD].” AMD is a chronic disease of the eye that causes a gradual loss of central vision and the leading cause of severe vision loss in people over the age of 50. Learn about prevention, risk factors and treatment of the two forms of AMD: wet and dry.

RIPTA ID Cards: A RIPTA representative will be at the center to issue new cards and renew existing cards Friday, Sept. 6, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Fee is $25 for new and renewals, cash or business check.

Call Alyson, our information specialist, at 468-4079 or stop by the Lobby and visit with her Sept. 7 and 21 between 11 a.m.-12 noon concerning various assistance programs available.

Intro to Bridge: Interested in learning how to play bridge? Freshen up on your skills? This is for you. Ben is our volunteer who would like to teach you. Please come check it out if you are interested. Tuesdays at 1 p.m. beginning Sept 10.

CPR CLASS, Buttonwoods Community Center: Did you know most SCAs (sudden cardiac arrests) occur at home? Are you interested in learning CPR? Call Pat Seltzer RN at 468-4077 to register for this or any upcoming class, Tues., Sept. 17, 1-5 p.m.

Veterans Assistance Program: If you are a U.S. veteran, you may be eligible for some benefits. Ron Plante from the Veterans Administration will be here Wednesday, Sept. 25, 9-11:30 a.m. If you would like to meet with him call Kim 468-4500 for an appointment.

Play bingo Mondays and Thursdays at 1:30

Cribbage League: This new group is looking for players. They meet every Friday at 1 p.m.

Meditation Program: Come to this very relaxed program and learn about the health and wellness benefits that can be gained from this age-old practice of meditation. This program is appropriate for those with an established practice as well those new to meditation. You will have the opportunity to learn several different ways to meditate, look at ways of integrating mindfulness into daily life, and leave feeling relaxed and renewed. Please wear comfortable clothing. Bring a yoga mat or cushion to sit on. It is not necessary to come to the floor. Your practice can be in a chair. Linda Morse has been teaching yoga and meditation for over 15 years. Her relaxed and humorous approach creates a safe and enjoyable setting. Ongoing Classes are Wednesdays (except the last week of each month) 11 a.m., $3 per class.

Zumba Gold last chance now through August: Have some fun with exercise and join the party. Zumba is a Latin-inspired, dance fitness class that incorporates international and Latin music with freeing, stress-relieving movements. It is great for the mind, body, and soul, any age or fitness level is welcome. This class is held Tuesday mornings at 8:50 a.m. and the fee is $3 per class.
