The Pilgrim Senior Enrichment Center, located at 27 Pilgrim Parkway, offers educational, nutritional and recreational programs to folks 55 years of age and older. The center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. All meals require a reservation; call 468-4076.

Brunch at 10:30 Wednesday, Nov. 27 and center closing at noon

Center closed Nov. 28 & 29, Thanksgiving break

URI Pharmacy Outreach Program: The topic is “Alternative Remedies for Arthritis.” Non-traditional treatments are becoming more popular choices for relief of arthritis pain and inflammation. Come by to learn about the more popular herbal choices, joint manipulation, acupuncture and dietary supplements. Bring a friend and your questions. Thurs., Nov. 7, 11-11:45 a.m.

Do You Have Questions? Housing? Heating assistance? SNAP? Medical insurance? Prescription assistance? Need help stretching the dollar? Call Alyson, our information specialist, at 468-4079 or stop by the Lobby and visit with her Nov. 20 between 11 a.m.-12 noon concerning various assistance programs available.

Medicare Seminars-Advantage Plan/Managed Care Participants: If you would like to know new plan information, came to one of the seminars: Thurs., Nov. 7, 2-4 p.m. or Fri., Nov. 15 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. All seminars are free and will be held in the Arts and Crafts room. No registration necessary.

Part D Participants: If you are enrolled in a Part D plan, call Alyson for a SHIP appointment to evaluate new plans.

The Health Insurance Marketplace: This new marketplace does not have an effect on your Medicare benefits. If Medicare is available to you, you are not eligible to enroll in the Marketplace plans. The Marketplace is designed to help those who don’t have any health insurance options.

Play Bingo at the center on Mondays and Thursdays at 1:30.

‘FRIENDS’ Bingo Sunday, Nov. 10, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Coping with the Holidays: Come to this event to help learn skills and get support from others who have experienced loss. Taught by Paula Toland, Chaplain for the VNA of New England. Call Kathleen to register. Wed., Nov. 13, 1 p.m.

Join Healthcentric Advisors for a short presentation about the different options available to you for advance care planning. Make sure your voice is heard and help ensure that your loved ones are comforted with the knowledge that they’re caring for you exactly as you would want.  It’s never too soon. CPR Class Buttonwoods Community Center: Did you know most SCAs (sudden cardiac arrests) occur at home? Are you interested in learning CPR? Call Pat Seltzer RN at 468-4077 to register for this or any upcoming class, Nov. 19, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Veterans Assistance Program: If you are a U.S. veteran, you may be eligible for some benefits. Ron Plante from the Veterans Administration will be here and if you would like to meet with him, call Kim 468-4500 for an appointment. Wed., Nov. 27, 9-11:30 a.m.

Paint on Wood: We have the paint and wooden objects. You have the talents to share. Donated wooden objects include boxes, ornaments, trays, etc. Finished items are donated to our annual Bazaar & Gift Shop. Share a morning using your creativity and socialize. No fee. Tuesdays 9-11:30 a.m.

Chess: New players needed, willing to teach and/or brush up your game. If interested, just stop in Wednesday afternoons at 1 p.m.

Cribbage League: This new group is looking for players. They meet every Friday at 1 p.m.

Evening Classes: A schedule of our evening classes includes Zumba, yoga, quilting, Tai Chi and dance lessons. Schedules and registration forms are available at the Welcome Desk. Ages 18 years and older are welcome.

Intro to Bridge: Interested in learning how to play and/or freshen up on your skills? Ben is our volunteer who would like to teach you. Please come check it out if you are interested. This intro meets on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. This class will not meet for the month of December.
