Pink out!
Pink for a great cause
ONE OF MANY: Niessen Schiller trims and styles the hair of Cheyanne Boucher during Sunday’s daylong event to raise funds for Rhode Island Pink Heals.
IN THE PINK: Emma Nurse and Natalie Cataldo enjoy exploring one of several pink fire trucks at Sunday’s Pink Heals fundraiser at Sunny and Shears and United Ink Tattoos at 1265 Post Road.
DRESSED FOR THE OCCASION: Wearing a pink boa, Peter Evert-Pierce tattoos a set of boxing gloves on the leg of Denise Duffy. The tattoo is accompanied by the names of Denise’s mother, Paula, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and her sister, Laurie, who is a cancer survivor.
IT KEPT GOING AND GOING: This is the third year the salon and tattoo parlor have held an event with all proceeds for the day benefiting Rhode Island Pink Heals. Staff who volunteered their time worked almost to midnight to raise more than $5,000 for the cause. Ted Dion, president of the chapter, said 100 percent of the funds would go to assisting families whose members are fighting cancer with donations of food, home heating oil and other essentials.
