On Aug. 28, the Pilgrim Poker League at Pilgrim Senior Center awarded their first place and MVP awards to celebrate the completion of their most recent 15-week session. Pictured above is assistant director Jeannette Bernard, MVP and East Division first place winner Ray Langevin, Pilgrim Poker League director Ray Walsh and assistant director Kathy Dermo presenting Langevin with his plaque. Langevin finished the season as MVP by having the most chips with 5,912 total. First place finishers in other divisions were Clay Oliver (North Division), Shirley King (South Division), Emily Croce (West Division) and Leona Borday (Central Division). Walsh explained that there are currently 35 players in the league, which meets every Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. for continuous 15-week seasons year-round. “I organized that three years ago,” said Walsh. “Of course, it’s growing every year.” The league is always accepting new players. Games are dealer’s choice and it costs $2 to play. “If they don’t know how to play, we teach them. This is a fun league,” said Walsh.
