Officer Kevin McGuire was dispatched to Centerville Road at approximately 5:35 p.m. on May 1 for the report of a malicious damage to a vehicle. Upon arrival, McGuire met with the reporting party, who said he came to work at 300 Centerville Road and parked his vehicle in the parking spot in front of the building. He said when he came out of work at approximately 4 p.m., he noticed his driver’s side-view mirror had been taken and his left front tire and rear right tire had both been punctured. McGuire said there were approximately four to five punctures in each tire, which appeared to be made with a blade or some type of cutting instrument. The man said the damage was estimated at approximately $600 and that he had no idea who could have done this, as he had no known enemies or suspects. McGuire said there did not appear to be any video surveillance in the area at the time; however, the business was closed and he was unable to make contact with management. No suspects.

SHOPLIFTING

Officer Scott Chanthaphouvong was dispatched to the Target at Warwick Mall at 400 Bald Hill Road at approximately 1:32 p.m. on May 3 in reference to three adult females who were in custody for shoplifting. Upon arrival, Chanthaphouvong met with the complainant from Target Loss Prevention, who said while conducting floor surveillance with a senior Target protection specialist, they observed three females, later identified as Tasha Fernette, 25, Krista Cordeiro, 25, of 1626 Main St., Apt. 3, West Warwick, and Heather Ruge, 26, enter the store and select a carriage and several tote bags. They then proceeded to the Men’s Department, where Fernette made several selections, including Hanes T-shirts and boxers, and concealed them in the tote bag. The three then made their way to the Intimate Department, where several selections were made by Cordeiro and Ruge, including underwear and bras, and concealed in their tote bags. The three women then exited the store, each carrying at least one Target tote bag containing multiple unpaid-for Target products, with no attempt to pay for the concealed items. The women were then approached by loss prevention and escorted back to the loss prevention office. Chanthaphouvong said the items recovered from Fernette were valued at $327.33; the items recovered from Cordeiro were valued at $371.97; and the items recovered from Ruge were valued at $633.17. Loss prevention told Chanthaphouvong Target would like to press charges and have the women trespassed from the store. Chanthaphouvong said another office assisted in transporting the women to Warwick Police headquarters. He said it should be noted that Fernette and Cordeiro were both several months pregnant, and that Fernette had two active bench warrants, one of which was for Failure to Appear for Ability to Pay for the charge of Shoplifting in West Warwick and the other warrant was for Failure to Appear for Ability to Pay for the charge of Shoplifting in Providence. Chanthaphouvong said due to Fernette having a previous conviction for Shoplifting, she was charged with Shoplifting Felony. Cordeiro and Ruge were each charged with Shoplifting Misdemeanor and were both released with a Third District Court summons. Fernette was held pending arraignment.
