STOLEN PHONE

Officer Mitchel Voyer responded to Mystic Drive at 6 p.m. on Sept. 9 for the report of a larceny that had occurred at the Lowes on Greenwich Ave. Upon arrival, Voyer met with the victim, who said he had gone to Lowes at approximately 4:45 p.m. to purchase some products. He said he put his cell phone down while at the self-checkout terminal, then left the store and forgot his phone on the terminal. When he went back into the store a few minutes later, he noticed his phone was gone. He described the phone as an unknown colored iPhone 6 with a screen protector and a gray Otter Box and said he wished to file a complaint.

Voyer said he responded to Lowes, where he met with loss prevention and reviewed security footage. In the footage, he said he observed the man making his purchase and placing his phone down at the terminal. He then walked out of the store. Voyer then observed a tall male subject wearing a black and yellow T-shirt pick up the phone and walk out of the store after making his purchase. He then walked over to a black PT Cruiser and drove out of the plaza. Loss prevention informed Voyer they could get the man’s debit information and most likely his name, but they would need a formal request from the police department to do so. The case was forwarded to Detectives.

LOST WALLET

Officer Michael Walker responded to Sparrows Point I on Hardig Road at 9:50 a.m. on Sept. 3 for the report of a stolen wallet. Upon arrival, Walker spoke with the victim, who said on Sept. 1 he lost his wallet around the area of the Stop & Shop at 575 Greenwich Avenue. He said his Chase credit card was fraudulently used at a liquor store in Johnston for $154 on the same day. He said he did not know the address or the name of the liquor store but was advised by the credit card company of the fraudulent purchase.

The man said other items in his wallet included: $4 in U.S. currency; one Chase credit card; two Bank of America MasterCards; one EBT card; one medical card; one Speedway gas card; one Bank of America debit card; and one BJ’s card. He told Walker he wishes to press charges if a suspect is apprehended. Walker said he informed the man he would need to respond to the Johnston Police Department if he wished to pursue charges, since the offense occurred in Johnston. A report was taken for documentation purposes.

BIKE TAKEN

Officer Kevin McGuire was dispatched to Greble Street at 10:36 p.m. on Sept. 3 for a report of a larceny. Upon arrival, McGuire met with the reporting party, who said he arrived at work at McDonald’s on Bald Hill Road at 7 a.m. and parked his bicycle by the garbage area and locked it with a chain and lock. He said he left work at 4 p.m. and noticed that the chain was on the ground and appeared to have been cut, and the bicycle was gone. He described the bicycle as a blue and white mountain bike with a small piece broken by the pedal or chain. McGuire said no further description of the bicycle was provided.

McGuire said he would follow up with McDonald’s at a later date to see if there is footage of the area from where the bicycle was taken. No suspects.

GRAFFITI

Officer Joshua Myer was dispatched to Elmwood Avenue at 9:32 a.m. on Aug. 31 to speak with a man in reference to damage to a building that he owns. Myer said the building is the old Warwick Billiards building at 1780 Elmwood Avenue. The man told Myer he recently bought the building and it had been tagged over the weekend. He said he believed it was tagged sometime between the evening of Aug. 29 and the morning of Aug. 31 due to the fact that the taggings were not there on Aug. 29 during the day. The man said he does have a camera on the property and that he would later be checking with the surveillance company to see if they were able to record anyone causing the damage.

Myer said a sergeant was summoned to the scene and took photographs of the tagging. No suspects at this time.
