BICYCLE STOLEN

On March 22 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Officer Christian Vargas was dispatched to a report of a larceny of a bicycle at the Longhorn Steakhouse on Bald Hill Road.

Vargas spoke with the reporting party, an employee of the restaurant, upon arrival. The victim stated that his gray Diamondback Insight mountain bike values at $650 had been taken from a locked enclosure surrounding the garbage bins nearby to the eatery. He mentioned to the officer that the bike was chained behind the locked gate at around 4 p.m., and observed it missing at approximately 8:10 p.m.

The victim showed Vargas the bicycle lock, which was not damaged and still chained to the garbage bin, and was certain he had secured the bike with the lock and that it may have been picked by the suspect.

There are no surveillance cameras in the area, and there are currently no suspects. The reporting party stated he did want to press charges if a suspect was found.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

On March 17, Officers Jeffrey Taranto and Javier Cabreja were dispatched to 865 Cowesett Road for a report of suspicious activity in progress. Dispatch had advised the officers that the reporting party had stated two tires were taken from a vehicle and that there were two suspects who had left the scene in a silver vehicle headed towards Route 2.

Upon meeting the reporting party, Taranto observed the car’s passenger rims, valued between $1,500 and $2,000, had been taken, and the car was resting on Coca-Cola crates. It appeared that the suspects had attempted to remove the remaining tires, as the lugnuts were loose. The victim provided a written statement that he had been alerted by his three-year-old son, who had been awakened by noise from outside. The victim saw two individuals around the car and banged on the window to get their attention. This startled the suspects, one of whom may have had long hair, who then fled. The victim does want to press charges if the suspects are found.

As of the report’s filing, there is no additional suspect information.

SHOPLIFTING

Officer Joshua Myer was dispatched to the Stop & Shop on Warwick Avenue on March 19 for a report of a female in custody for shoplifting.

Upon arriving at the store, Myer spoke with store security, who provided a written statement stating that he observed a female, later identified as Shelly Jackson, 55, of 9B Hudson Lane, Warwick, selecting several items from various departments and place them into a recyclable bag.

Jackson then proceeded to a self-scan register and scanned other items in her carriage, but failed to pay for items in the bag before exiting the store with the merchandise. She was stopped by store security on the sidewalk and escorted back into the store. Total value of the unpaid items was $106.01, and the store did want to press charges.

Myer allowed Jackson to place the items she purchased in her truck. She was then transported to police headquarters, where she was booked and processed and later released with a summons for a future court date.
