ATTEMPTED BREAKING & ENTERING

On April 11 at 8:02 a.m., Officer Daniel O’Connell was dispatched to the Oakland Beach School, 383 Oakland Beach Avenue, for an attempted breaking and entering report. It was reported three windows had been tampered with.

Upon arrival, O’Connell met with the a school custodian, who escorted him to the location of the attempted break at the rear of the school, adjacent to the school park at the west portion of the building. Two of the three windows had their screens removed, and the third window appeared to have been pried slightly a couple of inches. O’Connell said it should be noted that the custodian had touched the windows prior to his arrival.

Based on his observations, O’Connell said it appeared that no areas could be processed. He contacted District 2 Detectives and advised of the incident. According to the custodian, on April 8 at approximately 10 p.m., it was determined the school was in order, to include those windows, and was secured properly, with the screens intact. Upon her routine Monday morning, where the custodian conducts a walk through of the building, she discovered the three windows to have been tampered with by someone.

She said no entry was gained into the building. She conducted a walk through of the exterior and could not locate any additional evidence that would assist in the investigation.

MISSING

REGISTRATION STICKER

On April 9 at 11:07 a.m., Officer Rose Michel was dispatched to the lobby of the Warwick Police Headquarters for a larceny report.

Upon arrival, Michel spoke with a man, who said he visited Dunkin’ Donuts located at 2677 West Shore Road. He said he parked his vehicle in front of a green, older model Ford pickup truck and entered the store.

After a few minutes, he returned to his vehicle, at which time an unknown male subject approached him and said he believed a male subject in a green Ford pickup truck stole the man’s front registration sticker. The man then inspected his front plate and saw the sticker was missing.

Michel said a DMV check of the registration was conducted. Plates were run as commercial and combination. Commercial showed an inactive registration belonging to a blue Ford. Combination showed an inactive registration belonging to a red Ford.

STOLEN TIRES & RIMS

On April 9 at 7:29 p.m., Officer Sokphannareth Chea was dispatched to Teamworks at 170 Jefferson Boulevard for the report of stolen tires and rims.

Upon arrival, Chea met with the victim, who said he arrived at Teamworks at 6 p.m. He went into the establishment and later on employees advised him that his vehicle tires and rims had been stolen. He responded outside and discovered that all four of his tires and rims had been taken off the vehicle, which was standing on a Pepsi crate.

Chea said the vehicle was a 2015 red Toyota Camry, special edition. The man described the rims as gunmetal color spoke stock rims from Toyota. At this time, Chea responded inside the business and spoke with the manager. When asked about exterior surveillance, he said there wasn’t any and that he only had front surveillance. The man’s vehicle was parked on the right side of the building near the loading dock toward the back fence.

Chea checked around the area and was unable to locate anything. Chea also did not locate any surveillance in the back area. At this time, the man contacted his insurance company and requested a private tow to remove the vehicle to a secure location.

A report was taken and the man indicated he wishes to pursue a criminal complaint if a suspect is identified. The case is pending and will be forwarded to detectives for further investigation.

SHOPLIFTING

On April 6 at 3:15 p.m., Officer Timothy Kenyon was dispatched to CVS Pharmacy at 767 Warwick Avenue for the report of a shoplifting.

Upon arrival, Kenyon met with a loss prevention employee, who said after reviewing video footage from April 2, she witnessed a male enter the store at approximately 3 p.m. and head to the skin care aisle. The male subject is seen selecting four packages of Aveeno hand lotion and then the subject proceeded to the next aisle. The man then returned to the skin care aisle and selected and concealed one bottle of Aveeno body lotion inside his coat. After concealing the body lotion, he immediately headed toward the exit and left the store, passing all points of purchase with the unpaid merchandise, worth a total value of $43.95. The loss prevention agent said she wishes to pursue a criminal complaint on behalf of CVS.

Kenyon was provided with a copy of the surveillance video, which was tagged and placed in the BCI mailbox. Nothing further at this time.
