CLARIFICATION
Due to an error in a police report about a Nigerian scame in the Beacon last week, an address used for a fraudulent rental should have been located at 11 Shamrock Dr. and not 111 Shamrock Dr., a private residence that was not even remotely connected with the scam.

WRONG RETURN
Officer Gilda Fortier reported an attempt to return a stolen leaf blower on Sept. 28 didn’t count when the victim of the theft told police the wrong leaf blower was returned. Fortier explained that a Kenway Avenue resident told her he noticed that his Red Max leaf blower went missing on Sept 27. On Sept. 28, after his family made some inquiries about his missing leaf blower, he found a leaf blower was left in his truck, but it was not the one that went missing. The blower that was left was a Howland Pro 200PMH 25cc gas blower and not his Red Max EB7001.
The victim said his son knew a school chum who saw a man take the leaf blower from the truck and identified him as a man who lived on Pequot Avenue.
Fortier said she went to the suspect’s house and confronted him about the missing blower and the kid who saw him take the blower positively identified the suspect. Fortier said the suspect, identified as Adam H. Tinsley, aka Adam Hillstead, 36, of 397 Pequot Ave. was arrested and charged with felony larceny and being a habitual offender with over 10 prior arrests for shoplifting and other larcenies. Tinley was arraigned before the Bail Commissioner and remanded to the ACI after he could not pay the $25,000 surety bail and was a probation violator.

VANDALS
Officer Christian Vargas went to Cedar Swamp Road around 7 p.m. on Sept. 26 for a report of slashed tires. A resident told Vargas she parked her car the night before and found that both rear tires were slashed and two fresh scratches on the hood. She said she had no idea who would have done the damage and her son, who also used the car, said he had no idea and was not involved in any ongoing dispute with anyone. Vargas said the car was parked in the driveway at the time. The woman said she did not want to make a complaint at that time but she did want the incident documented for insurance purposes. No suspects or witnesses.
Officer Tammy Mello reported that a Doris Avenue resident came into headquarters on Sept. 28 to complain about a series of cars on that street had all the air let of their tires. He said he also noticed that a small portable radio he kept in the back of his truck was missing. The man told Mello there had been a number of vandalism incidents on his street in the last seven weeks or so. No suspects or witnesses.
Officer Joseph DeDonato reported a malicious damage to a truck on Iroquois Avenue on Sept. 2. The owner of a truck told him he found the passenger side window of his pickup truck was smashed and he had no idea who did it or why. There were no witnesses found.
A Wilson Avenue resident told Officer Jedidiah she went inside the Stop and Shop at Meadowbrook to do some shopping around 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 28 and then drove home. She said it was there that she saw a large scrape down the side of her car. Pineau said the mark looked like the damage typically done when a car is “keyed” while it is parked. She said the scrape was not there before she went to the Stop and Shop. There were no witnesses or suspects.

SHOPLIFTING
Two women were charged with shoplifting at the Kohl’s store in the Rhode Island Mall on Sept. 29 after a loss prevention agent at the store told Officer Aaron Steere he had been watching two women who came in together and saw them select a number of items and then go to the fitting room where the concealed some of the goods in their purses and then bought a few items but did not pay for the concealed merchandise. He told Steere he stopped them outside and took them to the security office where he recovered the goods they concealed. He said Viviana Argueta, 22, of 221 Barstow St. in providence had six items worth $325.99 in her purse and Emily S. Valle, 24, of 20 Park St. in Johnston, had nine items worth a total of $341.98. They were later released with summonses for District Court.
A Providence woman was charged with shoplifting from Macy’s in the Warwick Mall on Sept. 29 after a security guard at the store told police she followed the suspect around the store and alerted their security camera operator to keep his camera on the woman and saw her put two items in her purse while she was in the fitting room and did not pay for them when she cashed out. The security guard said the woman was uncooperative and refused to identify herself but Vargas got her driver’s license and identified her as Pennah Moore, 26, of 73 Constonk St. Vargas said Moore denied stealing the items in her purse and said she put them in there to separate them from the things for her and the things she was buying for her niece but Vargas said the items shown on the receipt resembled nothing they found in her purse. He said she resisted being handcuffs but eventually was taken to headquarters and charged with shoplifting and later released with a summons.
