VANDALS
Police were dispatched to Metro Center Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 17 for a report of malicious damage. A property manager for DiSanto, Priest and Co. told police one of their employees found a small hole in a window on the side of the building and, when they took a closer look, thought it looked like a BB or pellet had done the damage. The manager told police she had no idea who would have done it and said she knew of no one who had an issue with the company.

STOLEN CAR
Officer Mark Jandreau reported going to the Motel 6 on Jefferson Boulevard around 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 17 for a report of a stolen car. An Alabama resident explained that he was a contractor working at the Garden City Center in Cranston and staying at the motel in the meantime. He said he got in around 1 a.m. that morning and parked his truck in the west parking lot. He said it was a 2006 white Ford F250 with an Alabama disabled veteran’s plate and he had it backed up into a spot along the guardrail. He said he left the truck locked and he was the only person with a key for it and no one had been given permission to use it. He said he got a call from the North Providence Police that morning informing him that his truck had been involved in an accident in that city and whoever was driving the truck at the time fled the scene on foot. The owner told Jandreau that North Providence told him he had to file a report with Warwick Police before he could reclaim his truck from the North Providence impound. No suspects or witnesses.

COPPER STOLEN
Police went to 75 Minnesota Ave. on Jan. 21 for a report of a larceny. A manager showed police to the back of the building, where they stored four 50-foot copper cables for generators. The four cables disappeared sometime between 5 p.m. on Jan. 17 and that morning. A manager from the contractor who owned the cables told police they cost $500 each. There were no suspects or witnesses.

EKG TAKEN
A Wingate Avenue resident told police he returned to his vehicle around 6 a.m. that morning and found that the 2007 Chevy Cobalt he parked in the driveway the night before had been broken into. He said a GPS unit was missing from the dashboard and a wallet he kept in the center console was missing as well. He also said an EKG machine from his work, which was worth around $2,500, was missing from the back seat. He said he reported that her car had also been entered and her GPS unit was gone. He said the EKG was in a black canvas laptop bag and that it was a 10-lead made by Schiller and that the wallet had credit card, bank cards, driver’s license, military ID and possibly his Social Security card. No witnesses or suspects.

TWICE HIT
Police reported going to the Tavern Twelve at 2299 Post Rd. on Jan. 20 for two reports of larceny and malicious damage. At 8:30 p.m. Officer Eric Lima took a report of a 2008 Honda Civic coupe that had its front passenger side window smashed and items taken from inside. The owner said she parked the car around 6:30 and went inside for dinner. When she returned at 8:30, the window was smashed, her backpack was missing; a water bottle; a sweatshirt; a book; a phone charger; and an audio cable were also gone. No suspects or witnesses.
A little over an hour later, Lima reported he was back at the tavern taking a second report of another car having its back passenger side window smashed and a purse worth $25 that contained $30 in cash was gone, along with her identification. Lima noted that it might have been connected with the earlier report from another section of the parking lot. No suspect or witnesses.

Note to the guy on Wingate Ave: Never carry your SS card. Memorize the number (which you should have done at age 12 or so). Also, don't leave your EKG maching in your car. You'll have a heart attack when it is stolen and then you won't have an EKG machine....Dummy.

TO the woman who got ripped off at Tavern Twelve....I don't know what is dummer. Leaving all those valuables in your car or having dinner at Tavern Twelve.

With the high unemployemnt in RI, why would a company hire contractors from out of state and have to pay all the living expenses? What a shame that companies cannot use local workers!
