VANDALS

The manager of a building at 1221 Post Rd. told police he came to work on Jan. 21 to find a number of windows broken. He told police a total of seven windows that will cost around $2,000 to repair came from different sections of the building. He said there had been reports of graffiti found on the exterior of the building recently but not the kind of damage he found that morning. He said he last saw the building intact on Jan. 18 around 5 p.m. There were no suspects or witnesses.

A woman who lives on Turner Street told police she went out to move her car around 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 30 and saw a small hole in the rear right side window of her car as she looked over to back the car up and then saw the window shatter when she put the car in park. Officer Jason Brodeur said he looked all around the car for a possible projectile that caused the damage but met with no success. The woman told him she was not having any problems with people and had no idea who would have done it. No witnesses or suspects.

LARCENY

A Pinehurst Avenue homeowner told Officer Tammy Mello she came out to her car on the morning of Jan. 30 and found both front doors on her vehicle ajar and a number of items missing. She said a $300 Coach bag containing a $100 Coach wallet was missing. She said a $100 Target and $200 Kohl’s gift card were in the bag, along with $100 in cash and a debit card and her license. No suspects or witnesses.

MISSING PLOW

Police took a report of a work truck gone missing from an oil company on Malbone Street on Jan. 31. The business owner told police he came to the office around 6 a.m. that morning and noticed that one of their trucks, described as a red 2000 Ford 350 diesel with a Fisher two-system snow plow attached, was missing. He told police he parked the truck around 6 p.m. the day before. He told police there were surveillance cameras on his business but he had no way to provide a copy of it to police. Detectives were notified for follow-up of the situation and were asked to look for surveillance video from surrounding businesses. No suspects or witnesses.

CHASED DOWN

Officer Hovsep Sarkisian reported a shoplifting in progress at the Wal-Mart on Post Road around 3:25 p.m. on Jan. 27. Dispatch said a male suspect was fleeing on foot with a box containing a 32” Visio television and was last seen heading toward the Citizens Bank. Sarkisian said he saw the man about 50 yards away and got out of his car and gave chase. He said he arrested the man without incident and turned the TV over to a Wal-Mart employee and another employee identified him as the man he saw on closed circuit television walking out of the store without paying for it. Aaron Jeffrey Menard, 23, of 32 Sackett St. in Providence was charged with shoplifting and held for arraignment.

WARRANTS

Officer John Curley reported that a Wal-Mart’s loss prevention officer was accused of racial profiling on Jan. 26 after the loss prevention agent identified a woman for being a party to a shoplifting incident at the Post Road store. Curley said the woman told them she could hardly wait to complain about the store and the police targeting her because of her race. The loss prevention agent told Curley the woman was knowingly involved with shoplifting at the store, but the woman said she barely knew the male perpetrator before she eventually admitted he was her brother. Curley said that a routine check on her turned up three active warrants out for her under her maiden name. Doreine A. Taylor, 48, of 44 Rosegarden St. in Warwick was processed at headquarters and then transported to the ACI to be held for arraignment.

SHOPLIFTING

A Johnston woman was charged with felony shoplifting after loss prevention told police she concealed a bottle of fragrance and a bottle of Neuropeptide Eye Contour at the JC Penney store in the Warwick Mall on Jan. 27. Although the total came to only $255, police said the suspect had a prior shoplifting conviction and a history of drug use and was charged with being a habitual offender. Loss prevention said they saw her put the bottles in her purse and walk out without paying for them. Maddalena Guadagno, 45, of 35 Susan Circle in Johnston was held for the bail commissioner.

Loss prevention at the Wal-Mart store on Bald Hill Road said a Warwick woman stole a knee brace, two pairs of sunglasses, a wireless speaker and a Hello Kitty key chain on Jan. 25. Officer Michelle Caron said they recovered the goods from Winnie Sa, 30, of 605 Main Ave. She was charged with shoplifting and later released with a summons for District Court.

A Warwick man and a West Warwick woman were charged with stealing from the Wal-Mart store on Bald Hill Road on Jan. 26 after loss prevention told police they watched as the couple took an assortment of DVDs from the electronics department and conceal them in their pants before leaving the store without paying for them. Michelle D. Tisbert, 30, of 31 New London Ave. in West Warwick was charged with stealing two DVDs worth $63.92 in her pants. Justin R. Imondi, 36, of 661 Jefferson Blvd. was charged with concealing six DVDs worth a total of $127.75. Officer Jacob Elderkin said both suspects were on probation and were held overnight for District Court. Imondi was charged with felony shoplifting because of two prior convictions for shoplifting.

Esenam Dugbazah, 33, of 63 Webster St. in Pawtucket was charged with shoplifting from Macy’s in the Warwick Mall on Jan. 25 after loss prevention told police they saw her take a set of satin sheets worth $150 and a boy’s jacket worth $14.97 and leave the store without paying for them. She was later released with a summons for District Court.

When will people stop leaving items in their cars?

I call BS on the woman who "left her purse in the car". No woman ever leaves her purse, or goes somewhere without it. Seriously. Unless they are under the influence of something.... Even then?!

What makes you think that everything someone reports as stolen was actually in the car? Makes for a nice insurance claim!
