BULLET HOLE

Officer Brian Murray reported that hotel workers at the Motel 6 on Jefferson Boulevard had no idea when someone shot a hole in a third floor window at the hotel on March 2. The manager told Murray a housekeeper noticed some broken glass on the ground behind building H and looked up to find the hole in the glass three stories up. Murray said it appeared that the bullet came from outside of the hotel and apparently from some distance because of the angle and height of the hole in the window. He said he couldn’t find a bullet and none of the guests recalled hearing a shot or seeing anything out of the ordinary. No one could recall the last time they noticed the window without a hole, making it difficult to estimate a timeframe for the incident.

SHIRTLESS

Officer Evan Brent reported he went to the Warwick Medical Walk-in Center at 1131 Warwick Ave. around 1:45 p.m. on March 7. A man who was there seeking treatment told him he was driving on West Shore Road when the vehicle in front of him stopped in the middle of the road. He said he gave the driver a quick “beep to alert the driver” when the driver threw up her hands in an aggressive way with the passengers in the car all giving him the middle finger. He said he activated his directional to pull into the Walgreens at Warwick Avenue and the other vehicle followed him into the lot. He said the male passenger in the car got out and ran toward him and he exited his car to engage in a fight. He said the two females in the car got out and joined in the assault and his shirt and sweatshirt came off. He said the attackers then got up and grabbed his shirt and sweatshirt and left the scene. He said he didn’t want to file a criminal complaint but did want the incident on record.

SHOPLIFTING

Officer Michael Harris went to the Stop & Shop in Meadowbrook on March 10 to take custody of a shoplifting suspect. Loss prevention at the store told Harris they saw Catharine E. Hickey, 49, of 88 Beech Ave. in Cranston conceal a variety of items in reusable bags before walking out of the store without paying for them. They said they recovered $257.57 worth of groceries and other items form Hickey. He was later released form headquarters with a summons.

Officer Nicholas Reay reported taking a West Greenwich woman into custody on March 5 after loss prevention at the Wal-Mart in the Rhode Island Mall told him they saw her conceal makeup products on her person and then leave the store without paying for the items. Kayla D. Diffley, 19, of 107 Hudson Pond Rd. was charged with stealing $83.36 worth of makeup and later released from headquarters with a summons.

Officer Evan Brent took a Providence man into custody at the Wal-Mart store on Post Road on March 2. Loss prevention told police they saw the man take a Playstation controller and other accessories out of their packaging and conceal them in his pockets. Ambiorix M. Jimenez, 37, of 174 Bellevue Ave. was charged with shoplifting $113.89 worth of electronics and held for the bail commissioner.

Carlisa Jackson, 23, of 134 Jewett St. and Ashley Quarterman, 24, of the same address in Providence was charged with shoplifting on March 8 after loss prevention at the Wal-Mart on Bald Hill Road told police they saw the women conceal merchandise in their purses before walking out without paying for the goods. They told police they concealed two DVDs worth a total of $24.96. They were later released with summonses.

LARCENY

A Warwick woman told police she was in Kohl’s in the Rhode Island Mall on March 6 when she got up from a bench and left her iPad for about 10 minutes and discovered that the iPad was gone when she returned. She said she checked with employees later in the day but no one turned the iPad in. She said the iPad was worth $500. No suspects or witnesses.

A Warwick man told police he put his jacket in an unlocked locker at Healthtrax on Post Road around 6:30 a.m. on March 3 and forgot that he left his wallet in the pocket of the jacket. When he returned several hours later, he noticed the wallet was missing. He said it contained $21 in cash and a credit card and his Social Security card, VA card, Medicare card and his driver’s license.
