MISSING TOW HOOK

Officer Gary Driscoll was dispatched to 193 Morse Ave. at 9:45 a.m. on March 16 for a report of a larceny from a vehicle. Upon arrival, Driscoll said he met with the victim, who indicated he went outside his residence around 9 a.m. the day prior and noticed a cap had been taken off the front of his bumper. He said the cap leads to a tow hook, which is connected to the bumper area of his vehicle. Driscoll said the victim did not report that incident, however on the following day at 9 a.m. he noticed the tow hook had also been removed. He told Driscoll the estimated value of the tow hook and cap is around $50 but said the hook could not be replaced. He said he wishes to press charges. He also told Driscoll that his neighbor heard voices in and around the driveway area around 4:30 that morning, indicating possibly when the item was stolen. No suspects.

DENTED MAILBOX

Officer Britton Kelly was dispatched to 42 Bolster Ave. at approximately 9:48 a.m. on March 16 for a malicious damage report. Upon arrival, Kelly said he met with the victim, who said he “arrived home after church at 10 a.m. and found my mailbox had been damaged overnight.” He said the mailbox had been hit with a large object to cause a dent and the post was twisted 90 degrees at the base. He estimated the damage at $200 and said he wished to press charges if a suspect as caught. Driscoll examined the damage and said while it was unknown what object was used, “there did not appear to be anything that could be processed from the damaged property.” Driscoll said other mailboxes and a fence were also damaged overnight in the same area at different addresses. No suspects.

SHOPLIFTING

Officer Darren Parrillo responded to the JC Penney prevention office at approximately 11:20 a.m. on March 17 in reference to an adult female in custody for shoplifting. Upon arrival, Parrillo said he met with a loss prevention officer who said she observed a woman select a watch from the fashion jewelry department and put it in a JC Penney mesh bag, then walked into the juniors department where she selected one black, one white and one multi-colored T-shirt and two pairs of jean shorts and put them in the mesh bag, then walked into the MNG department and selected one white jacket, one pair of black and white pants and a sleeveless sweatshirt and put them in the mesh bag. She then went into the women’s fitting room and exited a few moments later with the mesh bag with all the above items except the jeans and watch in it. She then walked up to the Sephora display, picked up a bottle of women’s fragrance and put it in the mesh bag. When she exited the mall doors after making no attempt to pay for the merchandise, loss prevention escorted her to the loss prevention office. The total value of the merchandise was $334. Joanna Williams, 27, of 495 Hunts St., Central Falls was handcuffed and taken into custody. She was transported to Warwick police headquarters where she was processed and later taken to Kent County Courthouse for arraignment. She was charged with one count of misdemeanor shoplifting.

WARRANTS

Officer Jason Cooke was on routine patrol at approximately 5:16 p.m. on March 17 when he observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign while turning into the entrance of Newbury Comics at 1500 Bald Hill Rd. He said he observed three passengers quickly exit the vehicle and enter the store. When they returned, he said the vehicle again failed to stop at the stop sign while exiting the parking lot. Cooke said when attempting to take a right on to Bald Hill Road., the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop and failed to utilize the turn signal within 100 feet of turning on to Bald Hill Road. He also said the license plate was partially covered by a license plate cover/frame, making it difficult to observe the first number of the license plate. Cooke said he conducted a traffic stop at 800 Bald Hill Rd and upon making contact with the driver and passengers, the driver told Cooke he did not have his driver’s license with him and thought it may be suspended. The driver was identified as Stephan Trotter, 29, of 101 Kenyon Ave., Pawtucket, and one of the passengers was identified as Christopher Trotter, 29, also of 101 Kenyon Ave., Pawtucket. Upon running background checks on each of them, Cooke said he discovered Stephan Trotter had a suspended license, along with three bench warrants, and Christopher Trotter had an affidavit warrant from the Pawtucket Police Department, all of which were still active. Cooke said Officer Major then arrived on scene and the two men were arrested and transported to the Warwick police department to be processed. Stephan Trotter was charged with Driving with a Suspended License and the three warrants, and Christopher Trotter was charged with the warrant. Cooke said the third passenger of the vehicle did not have an active driver’s license but was able to make contact with a licensed operator who responded to the scene to drive him and the vehicle from the scene.
