HIT AND RUN

Officer Kevin McGuire reported he was dispatched to Lil Rhody Ice Cream on Quaker Lane around 4:45 p.m. on May 29 for a hit and run accident on Universal Boulevard. The woman told McGuire she was waiting for a red light when a car came out of the Olive Garden parking lot and hit the rear driver’s side of her car. She said she motioned for the woman driving the other car to pull over but the woman headed south on Bald Hill Road without stopping. The woman gave McGuire the license plate number of the PT Cruiser and it was traced back to Carolyn Moriarty, 69, of 21 Bramble Lane in West Warwick. He said he went to that address and spoke with Moriarty. He said she admitted she hit the car and said she thought the other driver would “just forget about it.” Moriarty was arrested and taken to headquarters, where she was processed and later released with a summons for failing to stop for an accident with an attended vehicle.

WEAPONS AND MORE

Officer Kevin McGuire reported he was on patrol on West Natick Road around 5:40 p.m. on June 1 when a woman flagged him down and told him there were two people fighting in the parking lot of Macy’s in Warwick Mall. He said he was on his way when dispatch said they were now across Route 2 in the parking lot of Uno Chicago Bar and Grill. He said he saw a man matching the description come out of the bar and into the rear of a car with Massachusetts license plates. He said he ordered the female driver back into the car and was approaching when the man got out of the car and started walking away as McGuire was asking him questions and then began to run. McGuire said he chased him and tackled him on the grassy meridian. He said he had been warned that the man dropped a large knife in the parking lot of Macy’s. He said he pinned the man to the ground until other officers arrived and they took him into custody. He said they searched the suspect for weapons but found marijuana. The loss prevention people who struggled with the suspect positively identified him and the knife he dropped in the parking lot was recovered. Trent Boston, 19, of 300 Nathan Ellis Highway, Mashpee, Mass., was charged with resisting arrest, possessing an illegal weapon other than a firearm, shoplifting, possession of marijuana and being a fugitive from justice. He was later turned over to the Massachusetts State Police for a warrant for distributing heroin.

SHOPLIFTING

Anna Dosreis-Varela, 49, of 11 East Broadway, Taunton, Mass., was charged with shoplifting at Macy’s in Warwick Mall on May 26. Loss prevention told police she concealed $341.65 worth of clothing before leaving the store without paying for the goods. She was arrested and held for the bail commissioner.

Daphne Delille, 26, of 187 Gray St., Providence, was charged with shoplifting 25 items of clothing worth $857.50 from the Sears store at Rhode Island Mall. She was arrested along with a companion, Ahesha Taylor, 31, of 64 Fairfield St., Providence, and Althea Dibiase, 27, no address given, were working together to steal the items. Dibiase and Delille were later released with summonses. Taylor was transported to the ACI for a warrant from a prior arrest.

Alex William Fecteau, 48, of 8 North Rd., South Kingstown, was arrested and charged with shoplifting from the Walmart store on Bald Hill Road on May 27. Officer Jacob Elderkin reported that they found him on Route 295 walking between the fence and the highway. Elderkin said he found him down near the water’s edge and told him to put his hands behind his back and cuffed him. Loss prevention said he bolted when they tried to stop him outside with a cart containing goods he hadn’t paid for. He was held as a probation violator.

Rhonda L. Cataldo, 48, of 105 Lincoln, was arrested at the Walmart on Bald Hill Road on May 27. Loss prevention told police she attempted to leave the store without paying for a cart containing $183.50 worth of merchandise. She was later released with a summons for shoplifting.

Tiffany C. Siniscalchi, 40, of 11 Hilburt St., Warwick, was charged with stealing $467 worth cosmetics and clothing from the JC Penney store in Warwick Mall on May 30. Loss prevention told police she covered the cosmetics with clothing and took them into a stall and concealed the goods before walking out of the store without paying for the goods. She was later released with a summons.

Mikki Lee Adams, 23, of 104 Edmond Dr., Warwick, was charged with being a habitual offender after she was charged with shoplifting at the Walmart store on Post Road on May 30. Officer James Vible said he tracked her down with video and witness accounts and arrested her on May 31. He reported she had three prior convictions for larceny and shoplifting and receiving stolen goods.

DUI AND REFUSAL

Officer James Wenneman reported following a car on Warwick Avenue on May 23 around 8 p.m. while it proceeded slowing and erratically south. He said the car was averaging around 20 miles per hour when he pulled it over near Cavalcade Boulevard. He said the driver appeared to be under the influence and had his pants loosened and barely covering his buttocks. He said he smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath and his eyes were bloodshot. He said the driver failed the field sobriety test and refused to take a breath test on a portable tester. He was taken to headquarters, where he also refused a Breathalyzer test. Emilio DiLibero, 56, of 106 Pinegrove Ave., Warwick, was charged with DUI and refusal and transported to Kent Hospital for detox when he couldn’t find a sober friend to take him home.

Officer Hovsep Sarkisian reported following a motorist onto the Airport Connector when he noticed it had no taillights on at 11:40 p.m. on May 23. He said he watched it accelerate beyond the speed limit and weave from lane to lane before he pulled it over on Route 95 North. He said he gave the driver instructions of the field sobriety test and the man told him, “I just want you to know I got into a car accident. I have a bad shoulder.” Sarkisian said he assured the man that wouldn’t affect the test. He said the driver failed the test and was taken to headquarters, where he blew a .142 and a .132 blood alcohol content on the breath test. Daniel J. Mennillo, 34, of 84 King Philip Circle, Warwick, was later released with a summons to a sober adult.
