CHILD PORN

Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell of the Rhode Island State Police announced that Soulesene Vongkaysone, age 37, of 15 Aborn Street, Warwick, was arraigned in Third Division District Court, for possession of child pornography. Warwick Police initiated the investigation after they got a tip from a social worker and referred it to their officer on the Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. A subsequent search of a laptop computer used by Vongkaysone found images said to be child pornography.

The Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigates child exploitation-related activities and supports a national network of agencies. The Task Force has detectives from Coventry, Warwick, Pawtucket, North Kingstown, Portsmouth, Bristol, South Kingstown, Woonsocket, Jamestown and special agents from Homeland Security and the United States Postal Inspection Services.

NO CONTACT

Officer John Curley said he was on patrol around 3:40 when he started following a car with heavily tinted windows on Toll Gate Road. He said he pulled the car over near 1036 Toll Gate Road and was told by the driver that he did not have any identification on him but did say his name was Clifton Pugh. Curley said he ran a check on that name and it came back with an indefinitely suspended license in Florida for Pugh and three no contact orders against a female named Ivette Figueroa. The car was registered to her and she was sitting in the passenger seat. He said a BCI check revealed the orders were still in effect. Clifton J. Pugh, 38, of 127 Hamilton St., Providence, was charged with driving with a suspended license and violating a no contact order. The car was released to Figueroa, 29, with the same Providence address.

SUSPENDED

Officer John Zaborski reported he pulled a car over on Main Avenue around 1:20 a.m. because he noticed the driver of the car had no seat belt on. He said he learned her license was suspended since 2012 for failure to complete a driver re-education program for a DUI and for failing to appear for payments to the court. Jenna R. Keller, 22, of 181 Bingham St., Warwick, was arrested and charged with not wearing a seat belt and driving on a suspended license.

SHOPLIFTING PLUS

Officer John Zaborski reported arresting a man for shoplifting at Haxton’s Liquors on Bald Hill Road on June 19 and then learned that the suspect had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in District Court. River Barnes, 19, of 233 Old Baptist Rd., North Kingstown, was charged with stealing three bottles of liquor worth $64.94 that was concealed under his sweatshirt. He was held for the next session of District Court when he could not pay court costs.

Officer Nicholas DiNardo reported arresting a man at the Sears store at Rhode Island Mall on June 22 after loss prevention stopped him leaving the store with a $172.98 cell phone concealed on his person. DiNardo said Russell S. Alessio, 49, of 239 Public St., Providence, was charged with felony shoplifting as a habitual offender.

DISORDERLY

Officer John Madden reported he was dispatched to the end of Cedar Swamp Road at little after 12 p.m. on June 11 for a vandalized Warwick Sewer Authority truck. He said he spoke with the employee who called and was told a man on a bicycle had approached him while he was taking some readings. He said he informed the biker that he should not be on the property and that he had to leave because he was about to lock the gate. He said the man told him he was not leaving and that he was going to “go throw stuff over the fence.” At that point, the employee told him he was going to call the police, and when the man on the bike realized he was calling the cops he whacked the rear view mirror on the side of the truck and then got off the bike, threw himself at the front of the truck, got up and then rode off before the police came. Madden said the mirror wasn’t broken but it was knocked out of its locked position but they were able to pop it back into place. The employee said he had no idea who the man was and Madden told him to call police immediately if he sees him again.

LARCENIES

A Warwick woman came into headquarters on June 13 to report that someone walked off with her cell phone at the Walmart store on Bald Hill Road. She said she put the phone down on the counter at checkout and realized that she didn’t have the phone after she left the building. She told Officer Kevin McGuire loss prevention at the store said they would call her after they checked the surveillance video and they did. She said the iPhone had a pink and gold case and cost $400. McGuire said he went to Walmart and got the video. The suspect is seen picking the phone up after he checked his stuff out and walked out of the building with it. The video was forwarded to detectives.

A Chestnut Street resident told police he came out to his driveway around 6:30 a.m. on June 18 and found his 2013 Honda Accord propped up with landscaping rocks with all four wheels missing. He told police he estimated the wheels were worth a total of $1,500. No suspects or witnesses.
