SISTER ACT?

Officer John Curley reported he was on patrol around 6:15 p.m. on June 11 when he saw the driver of an SUV look at him in her side mirror and then take a sudden turn onto Atlantic Avenue without a turn signal. He said he pulled the vehicle over in the CVS parking lot and smelled marijuana coming from the interior. He said the driver denied there was marijuana in the car and did not have any identification on her. He said he ran the name she gave him and it came back as Carolina Suarez, 22, of 103 Waldo St. in Providence, and there were two outstanding warrants from District Court for her and she had a suspended license. He said a passenger in the car gave him the name of Rose Perez, but he discovered a medical card in her purse for Esperanza Suarez, 19, of the same address, who also had two outstanding warrants from District Court. She was charged with obstructing an officer. They were both later transported to the ACI to await arraignment.

BROTHER ACT?

Police were sent to Kohl’s at Rhode Island Mall on July 1 for two men that loss prevention said they were detaining for shoplifting. Loss prevention said they recovered two items worth a total of $56.98 from Brady Duran, 20, of 1369 Broad St. in Providence, and three items worth $75.98 from Adonis Duran, 19, of 923 Main St., Pawtucket. Officer Scott Chanthaphouvong said neither man had a prior record and they were later released with summonses for District Court.

MORE RELATIVES?

Officer John Zaborski reported arresting two women at the Walmart store on Bald Hill Road on July 1. Loss prevention said Whitney Joseph, 18, of 200 River St., Providence, selected a pair of shorts and a swimsuit, as well as a pair of earrings, worth a total of $71.53 and conceal them in her purse before walking out without paying for them. The second woman, identified as Yankac Joseph, 37, of 58 Aurora St., Providence, also selected a pair of shorts and a swimsuit worth $43.84 and concealed them in her purse before she tried to leave without paying for them. They were both arrested and processed at headquarters before being released with summonses.

LARCENIES

A Warwick man went to headquarters on June 30 to report that his boat had been broken into while it was docked at the Brewer Greenwich Bay Marina. He said a number of rods and reels were taken sometime between June 16 and June 27. He said a custom-made spinning rod with a Simono reel worth $760, a Wickford rod works custom made spinning rod and a Quantum Cabo 50PTS with white braided line worth $430, a custom bait casting rod with abalone and stripped bass skin decoration and an Avet drag reel worth $740 and a Quantum Boca spinning rod and reel worth $230. There were no witnesses or suspects.

A Warwick woman told police her locker was broken into at Workout World on West Shore Road and $100 was stolen from her purse. She told police there was a woman standing behind her when she locked the locker and she assumed she saw the combination looking over her shoulder. She said the management was reviewing surveillance video in an attempt to identify the woman. No witnesses.

A woman who lives on Brightside Avenue told police a $400 gas grill, two patio chairs and cushions worth $170 and a propane fire pit worth $100 were taken from her yard sometime while she was at work on June 30. She said she had advertised the items on Craig’s List and received several calls about them before they disappeared. There were no witnesses.

A Kentucky man told police someone broke into his car while he was staying at the LaQuinta Inn on Jefferson Boulevard on June 29 and stole his Armani sunglasses worth $250 and a Sony stereo worth $150. No suspects or witnesses.

A Highland Avenue resident told police a 17-foot yellow Necky Elajo Expedition kayak went missing from his driveway sometime overnight on June 29. He said it cost $1,700. There were no suspects or witnesses.

A Green Bush Road resident told police his wife saw someone in his truck around 3:45 a.m. the morning of June 27 and called police. He said he went outside to see if anything was missing from his truck and said only the manual for his 2002 Toyota Tundra and the insurance card for it were missing. Police searched the area but did not find the suspect.

A Fairfax Village Apartments resident told police he was on his way home on his L-4 Lynx electric scooter when the battery died on Post Road. He said he left a note on the scooter and called Warwick Police to let them know what was going on and then called the scooter company to pick it up for repairs. He said the company did come to get the scooter but it was gone. Officer John Curley said he went to ask if anyone saw the scooter and a man from the Pitcher’s Mound told him he did see the scooter break down and saw the owner dealing with that before he walked away, but the scooter was gone the next time he looked in that direction. The scooter was valued at $5,000. The owner said the Veteran’s Association instructed him to make a police report for insurance purposes.

DUI AND REFUSALS

A man who was arrested on a DUI charge in East Greenwich was also charged in Warwick after it was learned that he was wanted for hitting a car in Warwick before East Greenwich Police stopped him. The woman who owned the car said that the suspect pushed her car with his truck before driving around her and speeding down Marlborough Street in East Greenwich. Officer Jason Brodeur said he observed the damage to her bumper. East Greenwich turned Timothy Adams, 47, of 41 Marlborough St., over to Warwick and he was booked for leaving the scene of an accident and then transported to Kent Hospital for detox.

Sgt. Timothy Marshall reported clocking a Ford Mustang at 75 miles per hour on the Airport Connector around 12:55 a.m. on June 29. He said he followed the car and saw it swerving from lane to lane and was going faster than 100 miles per hour before it continued onto Route 37 west, where he pulled the car over on Pontiac Avenue. He said the driver smelled strongly of alcohol and appeared to be drunk but claimed he only had three drinks. He said the driver failed a field sobriety test and was taken to headquarters, where he eventually refused to take a breath test. Keith W. Peck, 28, of 14 Spring St., West Warwick, was charged with speeding, laned roadway violations, DUI and refusal. He was later released to a sober adult.

Officer John Larivee reported he was on patrol around 12:30 a.m. on June 28 when he pulled a car over for operating erratically on Post Road. He said the driver smelled of alcohol and admitted he had “two or three” drinks earlier. He said he asked him to take a field sobriety test. He said the driver failed the test and was taken to headquarters, where he registered a .163 and a .165 blood alcohol content. Larivee said he also found some marijuana in the car and Samuel E. Robinson, 58, of 261 Taft Ave., Warwick, was charged with DUI and possession of marijuana. He was later released to a sober adult.
