CENTER PUNCHED?

Officer Julio Benros reported a damaged panel on a GMC mini-van on Knowles Drive on Nov. 30. Benros reported that the owner thought the damage was from a BB gun, but he said he looked at the damage himself and concluded it was probably done with a mechanically loaded center punch. He said the damage looked consistent with the center punch or a similar tool used in sheet metal work. There were no witnesses or suspects.

Officer William DiGiulio went to Salon X on Post Road around 9:40 a.m. on Nov. 29 for a single pane of a double pane window broken sometime overnight. The manager said it appeared to have been done with a BB or pellet gun but DiGiulio said he could see the BB-sized hole but could not find a BB between the outer pane and the inner pane. No suspects or witnesses.

Officer Scott Chanthaphouvong reported a smashed window on a Honda Accord on Marine Avenue on Nov. 27. The woman there said she noticed the damage that morning and there was no damage the day before. She mentioned that the rear passenger side tire was punctured a couple of days before but she did not report that to police.

IN PLAIN SIGHT

Officer Michelle Caron reported meeting a man in the lobby of the police station who reported the larceny of some money from his wallet while he was shopping at the Walmart at Rhode Island Mall on Nov. 24. He told her he returned to his car about 20 minutes later and noticed his wallet was not in the car but on the ground outside of his car. He said there was $80 missing from a secret place in the wallet but some other money that was in the wallet was untouched. Caron said she went to the Walmart and got video of the scene that showed a white female in a pink shirt walking between vehicles who stopped and picked something up, took it to her car, and then returned to throw something on the ground between vehicles. The video was forwarded to detectives.

TIRES AND RIM JOB

Officer Brian Murray took yet another report of a car being propped up on crates while its wheels were stripped from it. A resident of the Matthew 25 Apartments on Greenwich Avenue reported that on Nov. 28. She told Murray the car was parked in the rear around 6 p.m. and found the window had also been smashed to allow the thief to get the jack out of the trunk. Murray said he seized the jack so detectives could check it for prints.

GIFTS GONE

A Warwick man told police he had done some shopping at Target at 1245 Bald Hill Road on Nov. 24 and then moved his car over to the TJ Maxx lot to shop there. He said he was returning to his car and saw the rear passenger side window was smashed and a Honda Accord with dark tinted windows was leaving the lot. He said a toaster oven, a pair of boxer shorts, a bath rug, a room fan and some deodorant was gone from the Kia Sportage. Officer Quentin Tavares said he called out an attempt to locate for the Honda, but so far it has not been found.

BAG STOLEN

A woman who works at Toys R Us told police she returned to her car after her shift and found the passenger side window smashed and her purse, containing two iPhones and $200 in cash, was gone. She said the phones were worth $450 and the Michael Kors bag cost $300. No witnesses or suspects.

RAMPED OUT

Officer James Wenneman reported going to the Grow Store at 1889 Post Rd. on Nov. 17 for a larceny. The owner of the store told him she had a delivery ramp on the outside of the building that was missing when she came to work that morning. She said it was a 7-foot by 5-foot sheet of 12-gauge steel that weighed about 500 pounds. She said it was painted a shiny gray and was worth around $1,500. She said it was there the day before, when she closed around 5 p.m. There were no witnesses or suspects.

DUI AND REFUSAL

Officer Randy Francis reported he was on patrol on East Avenue around 1 a.m. on Nov. 15 when he had to slam on his brakes to avoid a collision when a car made a turn without a directional. He said he watched as the car swerved from lane to lane and travel on the shoulder of the Route 95 on-ramp when he pulled it over. He said the driver appeared to be drunk and smelled of alcohol. He said he was coming from the Mardi Gras nightclub. He said he gave the man a field sobriety test and he failed it. Francis said he took the driver to headquarters, where he refused to take a breath test. Daniel B. Rouette, 35, of 41 Holland Ave., Riverside, was charged with DUI, refusal and laned roadway violations and later released to a sober adult.

Officer James Wenneman reported he was on patrol around 8:20 p.m. on Nov. 14 when he was dispatched to an accident at Church and Warwick Avenues. He said witnesses pointed to a woman in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven. He said she had some blood around her lips but insisted she didn’t need medical help. He asked her about the accident and she told him she didn’t know what he was talking about. He explained to her that witnesses at the scene said she was driving the car and she said she didn’t know what they were talking about. He said he then asked her why she was standing in the parking lot and she replied she was waiting for a friend. He said she agreed to take a field sobriety test but then said she wouldn’t do any more after the nystagmus test and she was taken to headquarters, where she refused to take a breath test. He said a check of her BCI revealed a prior conviction for DUI in 2012. He said they also learned her license was suspended. She was charged with DUI, second offense, refusal and driving on a suspended license. He said they got statements from a number of witnesses that said she was driving the car when it crashed. Chelse R. Gesualdo, 21, of 20 Grace Ave., Warwick, was left in the care of Kent Hospital.
