The Warwick Police Traffic Division is looking for citizen assistance concerning a recent accident involving a pedestrian. The police investigated the accident shortly after it occurred on Nov. 4 at approximately 7:47 p.m. at 2912 Warwick Avenue, which is the address of a vacant Gulf Station. It is located at the corner of Warwick Avenue and West Shore Road.
The pedestrian was a local 42-year-old woman who was jogging along the westbound sidewalk when she was struck by a southbound vehicle that was cutting through the parking lot and continuing to West Shore Road.
The woman was propelled over the hood of the car, but luckily sustained only minor injuries. The operator of the vehicle stopped momentarily at the scene before continuing to Warwick Neck Avenue; however, no information was exchanged and no police report was filed.
The police are asking for information that might help them identify the vehicle and/or operator. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a primer black, older model, four-door, mid-size car, possibly a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry. The operator was a clean-shaven white male in his 20s, with short blonde hair. He was wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Officer Greg Johnson of the Warwick Traffic Division at 468-4345.
