Cranston and state police are investigating a threat posted on the St. Paul School’s Facebook page this week.
The message – in which the poster threatened to kill people at the school with a gun – was reportedly posted to the page on the morning of Sept. 9. In a media release, Rhode Island State Police Lt. Matthew Moynihan said St. Paul officials contacted families of students to advise them of the post.
Cranston officers and state police K-9 personnel searched the Broad Street school as a “precautionary measure” and found it was safe for students to enter, the lieutenant said.
“Members of the Cranston Police and Rhode Island State Police Computer Crimes Unit will continue to investigate the origin of the threat and will not comment further on the content of the threat while this investigation is pending,” Moynihan states in the release.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Cranston police at 401-942-2211.
