Popcorn sales to help with scout programs

Posted

Thousands of Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from across Southeastern New England have begun their annual door-to-door Trail’s End popcorn sales in neighborhoods across the region. Many packs and troops rely on this annual sale to fund their traditional Scouting activities, such as the popular Pinewood Derby and camping outings throughout the year.

Troops and packs from the Narragansett Council Boy Scouts of America began selling popcorn goodies earlier this month, and they will continue the campaign until the beginning of November. Seventy percent of all popcorn sales go directly to support local Scouting events. In addition to the door-to-door sales, Scouts will also be out in the community selling Trail’s End products in front of local businesses, and friends and family now also have the option of purchasing items online to support the Scouts.

“Not only does the annual drive provide funding for a number of Scouting activities, but it teaches our Scouts some valuable life lessons such as hard work, earning their own way, salesmanship and good communication skills,” Marc Cardin, director of support services at the Narragansett Council, said in a statement.

Trail’s End offers a variety of microwave popcorn flavors, including Butter Light and Unbelievable Butter flavors, as well as signature snacks like Classic Caramel Corn, Caramel Corn with Nuts, Cheddar Cheese Corn and Kettle Corn. All flavors of Trail’s End microwave popcorn are made with heart-healthy canola oil, making them lower in calories, total fat, saturated fat and sodium, while also providing Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids. The entire product line also contains 0g trans fats.

As in the past, Trail’s End will offer customers the option of sending popcorn treats to U.S. Troops stationed all over the world, which means 70 percent of every military donation will also support your local Scouts.

Scouts are taking orders in the community, in local stores and parking lots. For more information or to place an order online, visit www.trails-end.com.
