Prayers for our city, state, country

The National Day of Prayer was celebrated Thursday at noon on the steps of City Hall. The event, planned by Lu-Ann Perkins in concert with similar events in towns and cities across the country, featured remarks by Mayor Scott Avedisian and prayers for municipal, state and national leaders; the nation’s armed forces and local first responders including police and fire. In his comments, Avedisian said the city has been pleased to host the Day of Prayer for the past 15 years and it “is wonderful to have so many people pulling for us.” Perkins thanked Avedisian for his leadership, saying, he listens to constituents. “He has huge ears and an even bigger heart.” Here Perkins welcomes Avedisian to the podium. Before them are students from the Apponaug Christian Academy who sang songs.

Unfortunately, god took that day as a personal day, so he was unable to hear all those prayers. Better to catch up with him next week. Check with his assistant, the holey ghost, to see when is a good time.
