To the Editor:
The letter, “School leadership is critical” by Joseph Almonte (Beacon, Sept. 1, 2015), stated that there are examples of leadership in our schools that we should celebrate. He is absolutely right in mentioning that Veterans Memorial High School is certainly one good example.
In my opinion, however, there are at least 50 to 60 other examples of leadership within the Warwick school system that could have been mentioned. I am proud of every single one of them and your letter was appreciated.

Still think this needs an explanation from our School Committee "LEADERS." Hows does Rosemary Healy still get her full salary when she's doing less than half of the work she did as both school system lawyer and PR Director. Two other two administrators "Retired" recently over the fiasco at Gorton but Ms. Healy was just demoted with full pay. Something is wrong with this picture but nobody seems to care.

The report regarding the Gorton situation should be made available to the Warwick City Council & the Mayor at a closed session meeting to inform the Warwick elected officials outside of the School Committee/administration what occurred; it should remain a PRIVATE issue(at least for the time being). This would be a show of good faith to Warwick officials of what has been going on. From an outsiders perspective, at least myself, it appears that the "retired" leaders who were involved MAY have tried to overlook the issue &/or cover it up until outside information(the charges from an out of town police dept.) brought it to the forefront. Without informing the Warwick City Council/Mayor of how it was handled/is being handled, how can anyone else within or outside the Warwick School Community trust the Warwick School Committee/administration regarding either this issue or Warwick School operations? It certainly won't bode well for the school consolidation plans or trying to attract outside families with school age children to relocate to Warwick.

Well Gene' the disdain in which you've written back/talked back to taxpayers is disgraceful. I'll tell you where leadership CANNOT be found, and that is on the committee which you sit. The behavior of this committee has been a poor mark on the schools, teachers and this city. The right hand hasn't known what the left has been doing for years. Consolidation plans, lack of a contract, contempt for the people who elected you. With all due respect sir, who do you folks think you are? Your behavior has shown you to be unfit for your post, but the good news is that will come to an end next election. People have had enough. Next time the committee is having another elitist conversation about the taxpayers of Warwick, perhaps you can tell them what a TERRIBLE job we think you're all doing. Keep up the good work Gene', you folks don't need me to make you look bad in the public eye.
