The Providence Animal Rescue League, a non-profit that provides programs and services to the people and animals of Rhode Island and surrounding areas, has announced its 27th annual PetWalk will be held on Oct. 24 starting at 10 a.m. at the Roger Williams Park Temple of Music.

Following last year’s amazing turn out, PARL is expecting more than 600 pet lovers to participate in this annual event which brings community pet owners together to support animal welfare throughout the state. To register for the 2015 PetWalk or to support friends and family participating in this year’s event, or for more information about the event, please visit http://parl.kintera.org/petwalk.

The registration fee for the 2015 PetWalk is $15 (which includes lunch) and there is a fundraising minimum of $100.

Proceeds from PetWalk will support PARL’s adoption and sheltering programs, spay/neuter services, emergency pet food pantry and its Pets For Life program – a program that provides underserved neighborhoods with hands-on community outreach and pet care services.

“Our annual PetWalk has become THE signature animal welfare event in Rhode Island,” said PARL’s Executive Director Carmine DiCenso. “Not only does PetWalk help raise much-needed program funding for PARL, but it has become a much-anticipated event for the entire community headlined by our annual Canine Costume Contest and Top Dogs honors for the most impactful fundraising teams!”

Canine Costume & Family Fun

This year’s Canine Costume Contest theme is, “Most Rhode Island,” and will award the pet costumes that most embody Little Rhody. This year’s event will also feature family fun activities including pet games, activities for kids, and opportunities for all involved to take home some great prizes. Attendees will also find local vendors and animal education offerings in Mutt’s “Marketplace.”

“The Top Dogs”  Championship Title

Additional honors will be given to this year’s most prolific fundraising team, or Pack (which consists of two or more participants). Packs can be comprised of friends, family or even corporate teams. The top fundraising Pack will receive the championship title of “The Top Dogs” and will not only hold that title for the year but will also receive a special digital certificate to display on their social media profiles, ensuring all of their friends and followers know just how much they have done to support the Providence Animal Rescue League.
