Rain can’t dull growing minds

Rain showers couldn’t interrupt a learning experience, along with a few puddle splashes for pre-schoolers from The Learning Garden yesterday at Morris Farms.

The children were thrilled to discover both giant and tiny hand-held pumpkins, bright flowers and to see and learn about all the vegetables grown on the farm.

Cindy Morris, who runs the farm with her husband, John, said on average, a class a day visits the farm. That’s until it’s closer to Halloween when she said, “everyone wants to come.”

In addition to a walk between the farm buildings, with a detour to a greenhouse to avoid one downpour, Morris planned to give the children a tour of the fields on a tractor-drawn trailer.

“We have it inside,” she said when asked where the trailer was, “so it will be nice and dry for their tiny bums.”
