Rebels, Bomb Squad holding info sessions

Join the staff of the Rhode Island Rebels, the area’s elite travel baseball program, Thursday, August 16 at the Bomb Squad Baseball Company to learn about the full slate of baseball programs offered this fall. Informational sessions and registration will be held at the Bomb Squad, 1174 Kingstown Road, Wakefield, R.I. 

First, at 6 p.m., a session will be held for 13U and 14U players. At 7:30 p.m., a session will be held for high school-age players. 

The Rebels fall programs including the following:

13U Program – Coached by former URI assistant Steve Breitbach, this program is designed to introduce players who have completed Little League to the game on the regulation field. Players will be introduced to rule changes on the larger field, such as taking leads, pitching from the stretch, etc. Team will play doubleheaders every weekend as part of the Rhode Island Fall Baseball League

14U Program – This program will be directed by veteran coach Joe Vigeant (CCRI, Cranston East) and Angelo St. Laurent (Senerchia Legion, Bishop Hendricken). The program is designed to provide players who have already played a season or more on the large diamond the opportunity to play doubleheaders against teams from throughout the state.

Under Class Program (9th-10th Grade) – This team, which will be coached by former URI standout Jamie Degidio, along with Atlanta Braves minor-league catcher Shawn McGill, will play doubleheaders on Sundays against In the Zone, Providence Leadership, New England Prospects and additional programs. 

Upper Class Program (11th-12th Grade) – Recent AIC graduate and former Rebel Dennis Duffy will head this program, along with Rebels coach Chris Ursillo and founder Phil Davidson (NC State). The team will play doubleheaders on Sundays against In the Zone, New England Prospects, Providence Sports and Leadership and the NP Gators. 

Practices for all of the Rebels fall programs will be held at the Bomb Squad Baseball Company.

The Bomb Squad Baseball Company is the area’s largest indoor baseball facility. Located in the Palisades Mill Complex in Wakefield, RI, the 13,000 square foot facility is the most expansive indoor playground for baseball and softball in the region. The Bomb Squad features eight batting cages, three pitching cages with five real compacted clay mounds and an area to practice game-time situations. The Rhode Island Rebels is the area’s elite travel baseball program. The programs is directed by founder Phil Davidson, the former standout pitcher at North Carolina State, RI Gatorade Player of the Year and two-time All-Stater at Toll Gate High. The Rebels program is run out of the Bomb Squad. In the last four years, more than 70 Rebels players have gone on to play at the college level.
