We all remember Leo Grenier in school (died Feb. 6, 2014). At Greenwood Grammar School and Lockwood High School, he was the best, as well as most popular, athlete.

As a 13-year-old and a not very good catcher, I had trouble catching his curve ball. Others could not hit it. On Gorton Pond, he would skate circles around all of us. He and Bill Thayer (of Aldrich), both all-staters, combined to give Warwick a great hockey team. Both also played football.

We enjoyed trying to compete against Leo, even when none of us were successful. We didn’t feel bad losing to Leo, as he always made it fun.

Thanks, Leo.
