Rhode Show put out call, plans auditions for star

The Rhode Show on WPRI 12 is gearing up to hold its 6th annual search for the next “Rhode Show” star.

Those looking to win the opportunity of a lifetime – a job on TV for one year – are invited to audition in one of two ways. A live casting call audition will be held at Twin River Casino in Lincoln on Thursday, Sept. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Applicants can also submit an audition video on www.WPRI.com as part of a separate online audition process.

Live casting call auditions are limited to the first 100 people.  The live casting call auditions will be managed by a “number-in-line” system. Numbers will be given out on a first come, first served basis. A number will be issued only when a completed registration form and other required documents are presented. Registration forms are available online right now at www.WPRI.com. Each potential contestant will have up to two minutes in front of a panel of judges as well as a brief on-camera interview.

“Every year, we see a variety of talented candidates,” says Ashley Erling, executive producer of “The Rhode Show.” “I’m sure our 6th Search for a Star will be no different.”

Those who can’t make the live casting call should submit a video (between 1 to 3 minutes) on www.WPRI.com. Deadline for video submissions is 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12.

The ideal personality should be upbeat, adventurous, hard-working and ready to have fun. They should be at ease in front of the camera and as a public speaker at station-sponsored events. Candidates should also be new media savvy (proficient with social media, blogging, texting, uploading video, shooting video and still pictures) as well as ready to engage with our audience on multiple digital platforms. All entrants must be at least 21 years of age. Contest subject to rules available at WPRI.com

“The Rhode Show,” hosted by Michaela Johnson and Will Gilbert, airs weekday mornings from 9-10 a.m. on WPRI 12 and is Rhode Island’s only live, local morning news, lifestyle, and entertainment program. The Rhode Show Search for a Star is made possible by Cardi’s Furniture and Dunkin’ Donuts.
