Rhodes on Pawtuxet celebrating centennial

Rhodes on the Pawtuxet will be holding its 100-year anniversary celebration Tuesday, Aug. 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Rhodes kicked off this season of celebrations for its centennial year by partaking in the Gaspee Days Parade last month.

Live entertainment will take place in Rhode’s Ballroom and the Foyer throughout the evening. Acts performing include local favorites such as the Tommy Rotando Ensemble, Mike Dutra & The Strictly Sinatra Orchestra, Dixieland Pops, Mike Renzi Group with Bob Mainelli, Calamari Brothers, and Bombay Jim & The Swinging Sapphires.

The Rhodes’ ballroom opened in August of 1915 after a fire destroyed much of the original complex. The Ballroom and Gazebo were placed in the National Registrar of Historic Places in 1978. Russell Morin Catering & Events took over management of Rhodes in 2010, elevating this multifaceted, historic event venue and pairing it with the region’s most premier and well-reputed catering company.

This, combined with a rich, vibrant history, has made Rhodes on the Pawtuxet a pillar in the community.

“As mayor of Cranston, I am fortunate to have institutions like the Rhodes on the Pawtuxet that enrich our community and make it special. For 100 years, the Rhodes has hosted some of the most memorable entertainment events in Rhode Island, from boxing to ballroom dancing to hundreds if not thousands of concerts. The residents of Cranston are fortunate to have such a wonderful facility for their enjoyment. Congratulations to the Rhodes on their 100th anniversary, and I look forward to many more events in the future.”

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Ticket prices include access to all the live entertainment and complimentary hors d’oeuvres. A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to The Children’s Dyslexia Center of Rhode Island and the Providence Federation of Musicians. Tables may be reserved in groups of 10 and must be prepaid in order to hold the reservation. Event Sponsors include ATR Treehouse and Felicia’s Perfect Setting.
