Richard Flori

Richard Flori, fondly known as Ric, died on July 16, 2013 at the age of 69 after a long struggle with bone marrow cancer.

He was born in Paterson, New Jersey on June 30, 1944 to Clarice A. Flori and Romeo Flori. He spent his youth with his younger brother, Dennis Flori (July 14, 1950-April 26, 2008). As a young adult, he played baseball and football both professionally and recreationally, a passion he continued to love long into adulthood. As an adult, he attended Rhode Island College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social work that served him while he worked for many years as a social worker in both Attleboro, Massachusetts and Kissimmee, Florida. Though his passion was for helping others, he acted as founder and director of Norahs, Inc., a labor contracting firm with a reputation for providing employees with a friendly and encouraging work environment which helped his company to flourish in the areas of seafood processing, jewelry manufacturing, candy production, as well as many other fields. In his life, he also acted as founder of many other smaller corporations, while acting as guide and mentor to any eager employee. To all who knew him, Ric was known as a truly remarkable individual for his strength of character, kind heart, and unwavering power of will.

He is survived by his two daughters, Rayne Smyth (born March 20, 1975) and Jessica Flori (born November 25, 1990); and his two grandchildren, Nathaniel and Sienna Smyth.

A memorial service in his honor will be held on Saturday, July 20 at 11:30 a.m. at the Old Congregationalists Church, 546 West Greenville Road, North Scituate, Rhode Island.
