Richard W. Levesque, 90, a four-time cancer survivor, passed January 6, 2017 at Kent Hospital in Warwick. He was the beloved husband of Ann (Hartley) Levesque. They were married on November 21, 1950 in the United Methodist Church in Mapleville, RI and recently celebrated their sixty-sixth anniversary.

Born in North Providence, RI, the son of the late Alfred C. and Elsie (Selley) Levesque, he graduated from Burrillville High School and lived in Chepachet before moving to Warwick in 1957. He served during World War II with the United States Army HG Troop 5th Cavalry Regiment in the Philippine Islands and in the Occupation of Japan. Upon his return, he served in the National Guard. He retired in 1989 from the Stanley Bostich Company where he had worked as a wire winder for twenty-two years. He was a former Scout Master of Troop 1 Chepachet, Narragansett Council BSA. He was a member and former secretary of the Chepachet Fire Department; a member of the Glocester Ambulance Corps and of the East Greenwich Ambulance Corps. He served as a Trustee of the Apponaug Fire Company; as a Callman on the Warwick Fire Department and was a Charter member of the Bostitch Fire Brigade. He belonged to VFW Post 8018, East Greenwich; the East Greenwich Golden Agers and the Sparrow Point III Tenants Association, where for five years he was the Sparrow Point III Store Manager. Two of his greatest honors in life was serving as an Olympic Torch Bearer for the 2002 Salt Lake City Games and participating in the Honor Flight Program.

Richard was a kind, loving and devoted husband. He immensely enjoyed spending time with his family and loved traveling and planning the next trip. He will be remembered best for his devotion to his family and for his service to his country and community.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Susan Sangster & her husband, Tom of North Kingstown and Jane Usler & her husband, Steve of Warwick and two sisters: Carolyn Farnum and Betty Farnum both of Chepachet. He was a loving "Poppy" to his five grandchildren: Jamie Orsi, Kate Knight, Erik, Evan & Christopher Usler, and nine great-grandchildren: twins Dylan & Dean Orsi, Sasha Orsi, Ben & Brody Knight, Egan, Tyler, Harrison & Ireland Usler.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, January 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
