Richard Zarrella

Richard “Rick” Zarrella, 50, of West Warwick, passed away October 13, 2011 in New London, Conn. He was the cherished husband of Donna (Botelho) Zarrella for the past 29 years.
Born in Providence, Rick was a native of Johnston. He was the beloved son of Marie (Lopreiato) Zarrella of Johnston and the late Giovanni “Zeke” Zarrella. He was a ceramic tile installer for the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Local No. 3. He also was the owner/operator of Zarrella Tile & Marble for over 25 years.
His smile and laughter would light up any room. He will be remembered most for his very quick wit and sense of humor. Rick was an extremely dedicated family man in every way. He was a hardworking, honorable man who left this world far too early. His memory will live on forever in the hearts and minds of all those who loved him.
He was the devoted father of David M. Zarrella and Danielle M. Zarrella, both of West Warwick; and brother of Michael Zarrella of Philadelphia, Pa., David Zarrella of North Providence, Leslie Zarrella of North Smithfield and the late John Zarrella. Rick was the loving son-in-law of Gilbert and Anna Botelho of Johnston. brother-in-law of Tammy Zarrella of North Providence, Lorelei and Pete DeFazio of Cranston, Stephen Gustafson of North Smithfield and the late Jeanette Zarrella. Rick was a loving uncle to Jeanette Zarrella, Michael Zarrella, Gino Zarrella, Corey Welch, Ryan Welch, Angela DeFazio and Nick DeFazio. He was godfather to his nephews Domenic Zarrella and Giovanni “Gio” Zarrella, “uncle” and father figure to Charles “Chuck” Campbell and a very dear friend to many.
