Rilma F. (Higgins) Summerer, a longtime resident of Warwick passed away at the age of 89 at her home on Sunday, August 24, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Ralph Summerer of 58 years when he passed in 2008.
Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Clifton L. Mildred F. (Battey) Higgins.
Rilma will be remembered for her charitable personality and getting her friends and family together and creating wonderful memories. She had an impressive knowledge and fascination for the Lawrence Welk show.
She is survived by two daughters: Roberta Decoteaux and husband, James of Warwick and Rhonda Greenstein of Warwick; four grandchildren: Gregory Decoteaux and wife, Kimberly, Brian Decoteaux, Michelle Greenstein and fiancé, John Sherman and Stephanie Greenstein; two great-grandchildren Juliette and Henry Decoteaux; and a brother Donald P. Higgins. She was predeceased by her daughter Robin Lee Summerer, son-in-law Michael Greenstein; brothers Roland, Melvin and Bernice Higgins.
Her funeral service will be held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Friday, August 29 at 11 a.m. followed with interment in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter, RI. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
