Classico Stage Productions announces Mark Charles Shertheton’s one-man show, “The Riotous Times and Life of Elizabethan England – and…Oh Yeah, It’s about That Shakespeare Guy too!” Mr. Shertheton, who has been in theater for 50 years and has been involved in over 85 theater productions, as well as having worked in film and television, will be presenting his one-man show, which he wrote and staged. He describes it as comical, entertaining, joyous, dramatic, vivacious, wondrous, silly, fun, jostling, and energetic and quite simply a lot of fun to watch.

The 44 characters he plays are a delight for the audience. Performances will be on Sunday, March 23, and Sunday, March 30. Both performances will be at 2 p.m.

To promote the value of William Shakespeare as a dramatist, Mr. Shertheton will be giving a lecture on March 8 at 11 a.m. titled “Shakespeare and His Language.” He will be giving a broad overview of Shakespeare’s life as well as talking about his language and plays. He will perform speeches to help this understanding. Also, he will perform a few bits from the show.

On Saturday, March 15, 2014, from 10 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m., he will be offering a class titled How To Work with and Perform A Shakespearean Text. This one-time class is designed to help students understand how to approach, work with and perform a Shakespearean text. The class is a must for anyone who wants to better learn the craft of acting and for working Shakespeare’s language.

Show tickets are $10. Group discounts are available. Cost of the class is $20. The venue is the auditorium of the main branch of the Providence Public Library, 150 Empire Street, Providence. (Please do not call the library for information about these activities.) Check www.classicostageproductions.com for complete information and to purchase tickets or pay for class tuition.
